In Minnesota, what are the possible ramifications including charges, citations, fines, penalties, etc. The accident report was sent to the State. I was injured but not the other party. I can't explain what happened because I was knocked out. However, I did admit guilt to the police and said something about trying to stop and not being able to. I also think (vaguely) that while crossing the intersection, I thought someone would hit me so I accerated to miss the car. It then appeared that I was going at a higher speed. (This is a 35 mile/hour street).
I have never had a ticket or caused an accident and have been driving for 32 years). No alcohol.
I am relieved that the other person was not hurt but don't have a CLUE what might happen when the report comes back! If you have experience in the legal field, or experienced something similar, could you please respond? Thank you.

I would like to add some details, and thank those who have replied so far.

I have reported it to insurance, and am not worried about the liability to the other person. --

--It is the charges I am concerned about. I assume I will get a citation. It is not settled yet because it goes from the local police to the state for review.--

--I am wondering simply what the possible repercussions are for being charged, and what charges are possible.--
--I would prefer to avoid an attorney.--
-- I am really am grateful for the responses!

You may get a ticket for the red light violation. You will pay a fine, and that will be it. You can plead no contest and ask for traffic school, and the ticket will be dismissed from your driving record, but the accident will not.
Give the accident report to your insurance company and let them handle the rest of it for you. That's what you pay those premiums for.
Finally, you didn't commit a crime, you had an accident.
That's why it is called an "accident," and not an "on-purpose."
You will have it as part of your permanent drving record, but if it's the only accident you have ever had, your insurance rates are not going to increase that drastically.

Everything depends on if you have insurance. If you had insurance at the time of the accident, your insurance rates will rise, but they will take care of the victim's damages. In regards to tickets, you would know by now if you received any. Just make sure you contact your insurance company to notify them of the accident!!!

Well, you will have to pay whatever tickets you were issued, if you had insurance, they shuld take care of the rest, if not, you will be liable for paying for any damages the accident caused.

You should hire an attorney.

You could not stop in time.
You tried to avoid an accident.
There may be witnesses who saw what really happened.

You were knocked out. Your brain may not have all the info.

I think that you should find an attorney in your town, just in case.
