Do you think jails and prisons should make prisoners take off their shoes when they are in their cells? As a safety precaution?

My friend says that since it is a police officer's job to enforce the law, and that going 1 mile over the speed limit is against the law, the police officer should pull them over and give them a ticket or he(she) is not doing his job. My argument is that they have to use their judgement because if they waste their time on the first speeder they see every time, they will miss all the worst ones. He says that if they pulled over everyone they could, no one would speed anymore. I don't believe this, I think that people will always assume they won't be the one to get caught. Besides, cops can't waste their time on the smallest offenses these days. Someone please help settle this.

I got a speeding ticket the other day. I was speeding to pass a driver who I think was drunk (swerving all over the road) and the officer radar gunned me when I was passing. I want to see if there is a way to keep it off my insurance. Someone told me I can do this by paying a higher fee and not getting a ticket again within a year (this is my first ticket ever and I've been driving for four years). Have you ever had a similar situation or gotten out of a speeding ticket in general?

So i have been reading about the jena six thing goind on in LA. i have heard all kinds of things about all these people getting behind the jena six and supporting them. But i have not heard anything about how the white kid that was beaten is doing. has he recovered or what.
was he even the one who hung the noose? and if he was yes he does need to be held accountable but beaten by a gang?

and also the main one is back in jail for violation of probation involving another incident of assault not having anything to do with the jena six thing.
Am i the only one having problems with this?

The driver or the company? The ticket is for VC 21637(C)-Road Closed in Riverside County. The company is in Orange County.

I am a cocky little brat, and i know that. I get crabby and i like to stay away from my parents as much as possible. I'm 15 so i'm pretty sure that's normal. Well my dad and i fight often usually i say things like i hate u and stupid stuff like that. Normal, i'm sure since my friends do too. But he gets more angry then me and says worse things like he hates me too and that he can't believe i'm his child, blahblahblah. he smokes pot all the time (hard to respect a guy like that) and sometimes when i'm calm and he's not he'll hit me. I stand up for myself usually but then he'll push me down and kick me sometimes. I've been choked, slapped, had my hair ripped out etc. I dont know if that's considered abuse becuz i antagonize him some of the time? But i never hit him back i just stand back up, sometimes i'll run but most of the times i'll stand back up, unless if he hits me (in the face), i'll cry. So ya is this abuse? Or just discipline?

My F-I-L got a ticket for not having enough life jackets for the size of the boat (had enough for the people) and he forgot to pay it and a warrant was issued. They kicked in his door and arrested him-that was his first law infraction in his life. Now they are pulling up old civil cases (from a now out of buisness company) to hold him w/o bail. Is this normal? Shouldnt they be going after rapist/murders/drug dealers...people that actually break the law?

A UPS driver recently cut open the envelope that he left on our steps and stole cash. We know he did it, because it was cut open along the bottom corner, and left at our door. Without a signature, a driver MAY leave package at HIS/HER discretion. This would be foolish, since the envelope was clearly empty, and clearly had been tampered with. Any theif who would be lucky enough to happen along in the 45 minutes that the package was on our steps, would have taken the envelope, not cut it open. The driver COULDNToverlook this damage and lack of weight, if it had happened prior to their carrying it to my door by hand.
I called the police, and UPS. Reports are filed, but, no one will tell me the name of the driver. I'd luv to have a word with him/her.
If your just going to say not to send cash by UPS, then why bother responding?? Obviously, that's a given.
But if you have any thoughts on how to follow through further. I'd love to make sure this theif doesnt slip thru the cracks!

I have been paying on a fine for awhile now in Pennsylvania. My sentence is maxed out and I am no longer on probation or parole. I thought that I had read somewhere that there is caselaw that says I can have the remaining fines dismissed now. I have been unable to find anything about it though. Any one know of any case law that supports this? Best answer will be awarded.

Tonight I received my first speeding ticket. I got my license abt 6 months ago with a clean record. I always try my best to obey traffic laws. Since I was the designated driver, I did not touch alcohol at all. Around 3am, while I was accelerating and getting on the highway I was pulled over. Before I was pulled over, I saw the parked police car and I looked at my meter; it was reading around 43-45. The officer told me I was speeding 53 on 30mph zone. I said sorry and I told him I wasn't aware of it. Since, I put my purse in the back seat, i asked if I could reach and get my purse. The officer looked at me and said no, he told my friend who had few drinks to get my purse. The officer asked me if I drank, and I said no. Without further talking and pay no attention to my PBA card. He wrote me a ticket. I feel like I was not treated with respect. Maybe I misunderstand him, but why can I get my own purse? Do I look like I carried a weapon? I don't think the ticket is fair to me.

If we find any policeman talking to any citizen in an abusive language and physically assaulting the person for minor irritations how do we confront the policeman to tell him that his behaviour is unjust and unlawful, if we know that the policeman has a reputation of being abusive to anyone who confronts him in such a situation.

My job entails that I work with police officers on a daily basis. I am however, not an officer myself, I work for a company that prevents money laundering, fraud, kidnapping, etc.

Today I got a congratulations from a superior because my work had gotten 3 people arrested, and they plead guilty and are now in prison. This isn't the first time I have gotten someone arrested, but I don't feel good about it, like I should.

I don't know why...the only thing I can think of is I was raised in the "hood" and have seen many of my friends arrested, and me having to bail them. I know I am doing a good thing, helping these people get arrested, but I don't feel good.

I think that's why I don't feel good when I get someone arrested, if there are police out there...have you ever felt bad when someone is arrested?
