Prisoners shoes are slip on's and have no laces.... So, that is safe.

Unless you have another question?

It's hard to do in prison since inmates have to get around and often have prison jobs. Most city police stations make inmates remove their belts and shoes while in custody.

Many city jails also issue uniforms to inmates footwear then is usually flip flops or cheap flimsy tennis shoes.

Yes, as a prisoner they gave up their rights by their own accord and if the institution feels that wearing shoes is a possible risk then they have the right to enforce that.

usually they make them do that to prevent suicide using shoe laces. I think jails should make prisoners do whatever the staff feels in necessary and if the "residents" don't like it, they can feel free to not come back!

How would it be a safety precaution? I don't see any reason why they should have to remove their shoes.

If I could see any safety benefit from doing so I might agree, however I don't. Maybe you can point some out?

If you escape and have no shoes it slows you down and limits your travel and speed.
