I have a paper in Introduction to Criminology that has to do with the inequalities of the criminal justice system when it comes to a regular person versus a famous person. Thanks for your help. I don't really follow the stars.

I have a steady job, I am a reliable employee with few absences, I pay my bills, don't cheat on my partner, take the pets to the vet regularly. No arrests, no driving violtions. Am I an anomaly, shouldn't I be out robbing 7/11s, doing drugs or stripping somewhere?

I live in Mo and you can get a permit to carry a concealed. I dont want to carry a concealed weapon or anything. The issue is that my dad gave me a gun for me to keep at home. My husband is an over the road driver and I stay at home. He feels better with it in the house and so do I because I am alone with our two small children. ( 6yrs and 1 yrs) It stay in the top of my closet and they have no idea it exists. I have practiced shooting and can handle it well enough to defend myself. Is it illegal for me to have though? I didn't buy it or anything. Can I get in trouble for having it? Its a small revolver not like a machine gun or anything. I dont have a criminal record and never got more than a handful of tickets when I was younger. My husband doesnt have a criminal record either. He I think has had like 1 ticket his entire life for speeding. I dont know where my dad got the gun. I am assuming he purchased it legally also since he is also a law abiding citizen. Just worried

There are now loads of videos of criminal behavior by police officers available on the Internet. The police departments now routinely use torture devices (such as the taser) and assault (they use the euphemism "arrest") people who have not committed a crime (though they may have violated one of the myriad of victimless crime "laws", giving enough justification for amoral legal positivist fascists).

How can we repeal all of the victimless crime laws and get the government employees called police under control?

My friend Tyler is 17 and a half years old. His male cousin who is two years younger accused him of a first degree felony of rape. His cousin claims it happened several times and even in his sleep. There is no evidence, and no witnesses. The cops held Tyler for a day and decided to let him off on probation. Tyler ended up taking a plea bargain and will be pleading guilty to gross sexual imposition (a fourth degree felony) His court date is coming up.. how long do you think he will get for this?

It has been over three years I had this roommate.I am not sure if she is bipolar or just crazy, but a year after I moved away, she started calling me and left 10 messages saying that she has lost her shoes and 3-4 shirts, which she believed I have so I must return it or else she will file a police report. So, I told her I don't have it and I think she find them herself, she came back apologizing to me etc for her behavior. In between, she send me emails asking and telling about her well being like nothing ever happened. I was not too responsive to her. Now 3 years after she again sent me emails with the list of things (4-5 piece of clothes eg shirt skirt etc) she has been missing which totals 500 dollars. She again told me she will file a police report if I did not return it. I never had her stuff, but i truely feel harrased/humiliated. I am sick/tired of her up/down behavior and her threatening. I am not scarred but just don't want to deal with her. What should I do? Or what can she do?

my friend said that she saw on csi that a mother told the son to open the car window because there was a bomb under the car, the son did as he was told, and when the bomb went off, the kid was ejaculated outside the window. is this plausible in real life?

About 8 years ago, a friend bought a new 9mm handgun, which he stored at his mom's North Carolina house with some of his other things. For some reason, his elderly mother simply didn't want a gun in the house, so she sold it to a former coworker without my friend's knowledge. He only discovered this while going through his things this year. Unfortunately, it was so long ago, she mother doesn't remember who she sold it to.

What should the guy do about this? He can't report it stolen, because if the gun should ever be used in a crime, or otherwise come into the hands of the police, the buyer would likely say my friend's mom sold it to him - getting her in trouble. Also, the buyer would likely get in trouble for possession of 'stolen' property.

Basically, my friend just wants to get the gun's record updated to show that he no longer owns it, without getting himself, his mom or the buyer in legal trouble for an honest mistake by an old woman.

Any ideas on how to handle this?

I am a junior in college and when I was 19 I got arrested for retail shoplifting under $150. It was a misdemeanor hence the under $150. Will this hurt my chances of getting a job in high school education later? Should I change my major? I don’t have anything else on my record and I did everything I was supposed to do. I paid my fine to the city and to the store within the given amount of time and no court appearance was required. Will this eventually leave my record or should I give up my dream of teaching? I know that this was stupid so please don’t tell me how dumb it was because I already know. Thanks in advance

I was 17 when I got in trouble and was on probabtion and served the term. I left with the permission of my probabtion officer and that was in 2002. I found out last year when I was at the airport that were was a warrent out for my arrest. This past week I contacted the police in Dc and they told me that they have nothing on on me in the state of MD, DC, VA. I called 2 county's in Wisconsin and only one showed the warrent and the other county said I was clear. I have done the research and have found out that I have the same charge in two county's.

My questions is. If I get finger printed will something pop up? and if so what can they do? If this happened when I was 17

BBC World service says that the police who shot Menezes used 'specialised' bullets designed to 'instantly incapacitate' rather than pass straight through.
I may be wrong, but I thought soft nosed bullets were no longer accepted and I live in a country where most of the police force is armed.
Surely if you fire on someone, the purpose is to incapacitate. Since armed police in the UK are supposed to be specially trained, then it should be possible to incapacitate the target without killing him and without using 'specialised' bullets.

Heard on the news earlier that 2 of O.J.'s co-defendents have reached plea agreements with prosecutors and will testify against O.J.

Do the authorities not realize who they are dealing with? This is O. J. Simpson------a great sports hero! He's already been thru hell when his wife was murdered and then he was falsely accused. Hasn't O.J.been thru enough? When will "the Man" leave him alone?

When it comes to uber addictive drugs like Cocaine and Meth that hook people on their first try-Is it really logical to say that if there wasn't a demand for the drug then the drug problem would go away....

Pushers are called pushers for a reason...they offer and pressure impressionable people into "just trying it" and that creates addicts... Addicts are demand and continue the cycle.

So if the supply is the source of the demand isn't the real solution to get rid of the supply first while reducing the demand at the same time?
