this morning and all the ticket says is Amber light offense code 612. What exactly does this mean? she said that she crossed a yellow light about 2 seconds after it turned from green.

It means she crossed an intersection on a yellow light. There's a lot of debate on this even among cops so it mostly becomes a judgement call. Basically the cop is saying she had time to bring her vehicle to a safe stop but instead rolled the intersection.

Hard to beat since the judge is going to side with the cop's judgement.

Ok first code 612 means anything. I literally mean that it could mean anything. Each department uses different codes and most are getting rid of them because of the fact that on 9/11 a bunch of different departments were responding to the pentagon and dispatchers were calling out 419 724 843 and nobody knew what the hell anyone was talking about. She probably is not lying and it could mean something as simple as running a red light. But mainly want you to know 612 means nothing to a person who is not in that specific jurisdiction and knows what the code is. Possibly it could be statute 612 that she violated. Try to check it up if you don't belive your mother.

You get a ticket for going thru on amber when it turns red before you reach the other side. Code 612 is the local law enforcement code number for that offense.

well it sounds like a failure to stop at a light. yellow means slow to stop not go through.

No clue, maybe she sped up to avoid sitting at a red. I don't know the road rule/laws in Michigan.

Yellow means slow down or caution, not speed up and go through................
