You blew it. Didn't you tell the officer you were only driving one way?

Dude, I've had to pay over $120 before for turning left at a green light mere minutes before the "no left turn from 4-6" clause expired i.e. it was like 5:57. Traffic was favorable, the turn was safe, construction pretty much obscured the other way home, so I made the turn, I was just seen and fined. So yea, this is may not be fair, but it is how it is. They really don't care if this is the first offense you've made, rather that you pay the senators lunch next week, and fill the daily quota for the ticketing officer.

You put lives in danger because you couldn't or didn't read the street signs, and you're upset about the dollar amount of your fine?
The price of the ticket is the price of the ticket, whether you've ever broken the law before or not. The officer doesn't get to adjust the price for the offense just because it's your first one. Just take care of your ticket and be grateful you didn't hit and kill anyone while driving the wrong way, which is what you should really be concerned about.

The police do not set the price of traffic citations... The state Legislator does. The fine is levied across the state to everyone who gets that ticket... and some counties also add on an administrative fee to it.
If you do not thank its fair, contact your state Representatives. Work for change in lowering fines.
Remember, the people request the laws.... The Legislator writes the laws and puts them into place... The police enforce the laws at the request of the people.
Oh, and as an added note.... Don't go to court with the defense of "its not fair". They will find you guilty and access the full fine, points and then court costs to boot.
If your state offers driver improvement school... take it. It usually reduces the fine and removes the points.

I think it's very fair. No one on the road or not, there's always a chance that someone speeding could have been going the right way and then disaster. Pay the fine and pay attention to the signs next time. I have never seen a one way street without a sign.

Seriously get a traffic lawyer and set a court date. You may have to pay the fine and the lawyer, but at least it wont go on your insurance record. If it goes on your record your rates will go up and it takes a while for the ticket to come off. I know from experience that your insurance rates will be outrageous. Plus if you get a lawyer you will be in and out of court within minutes. It sounds like a lot of work to get that taken care of, but it's easy as cake. (doesn't really answer your question, but hopefully some good advice)

The traffic fines are established in townships and municipalities through a meeting of the town council, and on what is usual and common in other cities and towns. It matters not if this was your first offense or 31st. There was a law. You broke the law. You might be able to go before the traffic court, and appeal the fine, but you are still going to have to pay something.

By today's standards your ticket price was fair. It makes no difference whether you had broken the law before or not. You WERE DRIVING THE WRONG WAY ON A ONE WAY STREET - you are supposed to be responsible! Learn your lesson well!

Actually, it is kind of light. You must be from a forgiving state.
Driving the Wrong Way on a One Way Road is a serious driving offense. The fine here is $500.

That is very cheap ... I got a ticket for the new "move over law" where I need to change lanes for a cop already pulled over on the side and his lights on. Ya ran me 118!

The price of the ticket was very dear indeed! But they say, law is a law! And if you break the law, whether it's your first time or not, you gonna be fined or be penalized. We'll learn our lessons eventually dear!
