My agency works 45.7 hours work cycles, four days on, four days off.
So, in my free time, either during the day or in the evening, I pour myself a glass of 12 year old scotch and attempt to give people quality answers to their Law Enforcement and Police questions. It relaxes me and keeps my mind active.
Unlike many here that post trash, hate speech and give answers based on the latest episode of CSI they watched that they think makes them an expert in the field.
I post truth and try to enrich the boards with professional knowledge. Occasionally I learn something in the process. I enjoy giving people correct answers to their serious question.
I learned a long time ago, what may seem like a simple question to some is the most important question in the world at the time to the poster. So, to give them helpful information is part of not only my job... but who I am as a person.

Everybody has the time in their own hands. Why be surprised that cops have time to be on yahoo and not on the streets? Maybe these cops are in the their desk all the time for office work, why never heard of cops in the office yet? They are also in uniform, somebody has to do the dirty works in the office.
I won't blame you for feeling these way. If all cops are out in the streets, who will manned the precint anyway and guard the prisoners there in those cells? Might as well close the precint, wouldn't you?

We actually get days off (yes, I know that seems outrageous).
I like helping people out with their problems. That is why I became a police officer and spending some time here is a pleasant way to spend some of my free time.
You are making the assumption that we are all doing this while we are working. Considering that my patrol area has 25000 people in it and that many times I am patroling it alone, doesn't give me any time for Y.A.

Contrary to some people's views police officers have lives too. I don't get on Y!A while at work. But at this time I am home and just having some fun. Also police officers work many different shifts.
Now when I get some decent snow I'll be mushing and won't have time to deal with twits like you who make mildly veiled snotty remarks.
