It is a moot question so there is no need to answer. If and I mean IF any President were to be able to pull off such a ridiculous notion, your City, County & State cops wouldn't have to worry about doing the dirty work. The President may be the Commander in Chief, but that only pertains to the Military, which cannot be used on American soil for "enforcement" actions........it would fall to either the Federal LEO Agencies, most likely the BATF, and POSSIBLY the National Guard.
Your average street cop is not under the control of the President and therefore we would not be going door-to-door taking guns away from anyone.
But if you want to play "what if", I would have SERIOUS issues with that situation and would have to strongly re-think my career choice. Good thing it won't be happening. :)

First, the question is moot as the Constitution of the United States allows the citizens the right to bear arms.
Second, if any such person were to get into office, they could NOT send forth any such law with out the approval of the Senate and Congress... And that will never happen.
Third...if something like that were even suggested, there literally would be a civil war in this country.
But, just to entertain your question.................. NO... very few if any police officers would ever follow that crazy order. Why? Cause it is a violation of the constitution and every Officer takes an oath to up hold the Constitution at the time they are certified.

Hi folks, to those who are dismissing this question as "unlikely." Please go ask those in New Orleans who invoked the 2nd amendment right to bear arms to protect their property and person, yet during Katrina, were visited by the National Guard and had their arms confiscated. These were law-abiding gun-registered citizens whose guns have not be returned as far as I know.
Martial law in New Orleans is a preview of what could happen elsewhere. Those who warn us about it have good reason to do so. Upholding and defending the consitution is every citizen's duty, not just for the police and office-holders.
Now, for those who haven't yet, please answer the question. If directed to do so, would you confiscate legally-owned firearms?

The quantity will be not the imperative issue in this matter, but to have the quality is the best priority to be taken into account. So for quantity it will varies accordingly to the instant order made by the President for every event to be held.

The president doesn't rule Local cops and sheriffs or even state police. Even trying to do this would be worse then the war on drugs.

Dog Lover, dont' take the right to bear arms for granted. That right was fought for then and will be fought for again. This is why we should never give our governmnet too much power.

The question is, how many gun-owning citizens would resort to violence in order to defend their 2nd ammendment rights?

NONE
THE ACLU, RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS, COALITIONS GROUPS, ETC WOULD NOT ALLOW IT. YOU WOULD HAVE TO INVOKE MARSHALL LAW TO ENFORCE IT. THEN YOU WOULD HAVE A WAR ON YOUR HANDS TO APPLY IT. THIS IS A FUNDAMENTAL RIGHT. IT IS A CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT IF YOU WANT TO OWN A FIREARM.
MANY HAVE ADVOCATED BANNING FIREARMS. THEY HAVE CONVINCED THE PUBLIC TO BELIEVE IT WILL BE DONE? ONLY IF YOU ALLOW IT TO BE DONE.

Your scenario isn't very likely to happen. There are people who would like to scare you into thinking it's a possibility though, and they count on that for your vote.
