If we find any policeman talking to any citizen in an abusive language and physically assaulting the person for minor irritations how do we confront the policeman to tell him that his behaviour is unjust and unlawful, if we know that the policeman has a reputation of being abusive to anyone who confronts him in such a situation.

the corruptions seems to go very high ... check if your community has a citizens right group a citizens watch dog type of group ... consider yourself in a leadership role and form one . MADD is a group that was small and made major changes to the law to fight for good changes. Citizens can form groups and make a difference . there are many talented people that give resources and if they can't share professionally they support financially set up a good , proper , legal organization and begin to hold meetings to attack the problem

you should not argue with a cop without being on video / have no interactions they have more rights /can cause you more trouble . citizens are being beat on .. you must not place yourself in jeopardy . you are outnumbered and they know how to call for backup and many lie and stick together

record all conversations and get film on video. send info to all media ... document and gather evidence . there are camcorder mini devices available at best buy / radio shack for less than 100 usd . operates with a sd card 20. for about 2 hours more than most people will need. turn it on whenever you are stopped . mount the device in car do not do anything or move out of the car / speak with out device being on . you are safer with your camera on than off have your attorney on speed dial . study your rights before hand. good video dvd to watch for free and this in your local library, title BUSTED a citizens guide to surviving police encounters.

this dvd should be required of every student getting a drivers license .

citizens must have solid documentation ... see if anyone in your comminity is involved in citizens rights / fighting corruption . your community needs support and to have good cases to change laws ... fight the corruption

i do not think that you can get cops to stop covering from other cops ... you as a citizen have no clue who is honest / isn't corrupt . have to operate they are all corrupt / not compromise investigation / evidence gather

the cops need to have more laws / risk / reasons not to beat on citizens . the laws must be made tougher citizens can band together and bring change for the good

Get their name and / or badge number and call the agencies Internal Affairs Bureau.

It the agency is too small for that, call and ask to speak to a shift commander, supervisor or even the Chief.

Make a serious and detail complaint that is based in fact... not accusations or violations of what YOU think is the law. Many people have no earthly clue what the policy, procedure or law is and just think there must be a violation because they do not agree with some action.

Be sure to get the name and rank of the official you spoke with and get a date and time as to when they expect to follow up with you. Keep a detailed record of each conversation until the situation is resolved.

All of us honest cops want our peers to be the same. All reputable agencies work for the same goal.

i once saw just that, with someone i vaguely knew. i asked the officer what the offender (an individual known only to me as 'cool breeze') had done wrong, and was immediately grabbed, not roughly but none too gently placed against a squad car, and patted down & run through the system - then told to leave or be arrested for 'interfering with governmental operations.' this was gainesville, fl, in the early 1990's - as someone i went through the police academy with watched (which is probably why i wasn't charged).

best to get video evidence from some distance, and then report it. most cops really do want to do the right thing, but as someone who served at least to some degree, i can honestly say that the right thing gets somewhat, uhhhh...skewed by the very nature of the job

AN OFFICER IS BOUND BY GUIDELINES AND THAT IS POLICY AND PROCEDURE OR SOPS AND AR'S (STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE AND ADMINISTRATIVE REGULATIONS.)

ONE OF THOSE IN EVERY DEPARTMENT REGULATES ABUSIVENESS. WE ARE BOUND BY TACT AND DIPLOMACY. YOU THE PUBLIC PAYS OUR SALARY AND YOU DESERVE RESPECT. WHEN YOU DISRESPECT ME THEN I CAN CALL YOU DOWN. IT WORKS BOTH WAYS.

WE ARE LIKE UMPIRES IN A BALLGAME. WE DO NOT ALWAYS GET IT RIGHT BUT 99% OF THE TIME WE ARE RIGHT. WE ARE NOT GOD AND WE ARE NOT PERFECT. BUT WE ARE HELD TO A STANDARD THAT MANY THINK WE SHOULD BE 100% CORRECT AND 100% PERFECT.

WHEN AN OFFICER IS OUT OF LINE, YOU HAVE AS PUBLIC CITIZEN THE RIGHT TO CALL I&I OR IA.(INTERNAL INVESTIGATIONS, INTERNAL AFFAIRS) THEY WILL INVESTIGATE AN OFFICER AND SEE IF HE IS OUT OF LINE. SOMETIMES YOU SEE SO MUCH SO OFTEN YOU BECOME BITTER AND THAT IS THE TIME TO TAKE THE OFFICER OUT OF THE FIELD FOR A WHILE.
OUR JOB IS NOT A PRETTY ONE. WE SEE MORE IN A DAY OF WORK THEN DONALD TRUMP SEES IN LIFE TIME.
THE STRESS IS THERE CONSTANTLY. PUBLIC, ADMINISTRATION, HOME ETC.. THE AVERAGE POLICEMAN RETIRES, LOOSES THE STRESS FACTOR AND DIES WITHIN A YEAR OR TWO OF RETIRING.
NOT THE BEST ODDS IN THE WORLD.

Often, you can go to the Police Department's website and send a citizen's complaint, I know that's the case with many state police agencies. Give it a try.

try to go closer and note down his buckle number on the belt, note his name on the chest-plate. If your mobile has voice recording facility, record his conversation secretly. Then write a letter to local police station of that area with a copy to the commissioner of police and to a local news paper and mention the details.
