what do i have to do to become a police officer in canada?

i realllyy wanna become a police officer.. . i was wondering what are the requirements? where are the schools you go to and all that stuff... any info anyone can give me would be greatlyy appreciated...thankss

Here are the basic requirements for a police constable in Canada:

• Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada
• Minimum 18 years of age
• Good moral character with no criminal record for which a pardon has not been granted
• Physically and mentally able to perform the duties of a police constable
• Secondary school diploma or its equivalent
• Post secondary education, an asset
• Bilingual, an asset
• Valid driver's licence with full driving privileges
• Current certification in CPR and First Aid

There are also mininum requirements for vision as well.

You only need a high school diploma, but 99.9% of people hired have at least a college or university degree. I would help to have some volunteer/community involvement experience as well.

Find your local police service's web site and the process will be explained, or call and ask for human resources and they will give your information as well.

I have been a police officer in the States for a long time, so I do not know exactly what is up with Canada... but what I suggest is to hit some Canadian Police web sites and look at what they have posted.
