I ran a red light. I honestly thought it was still yellow as I was going through it, but I probably did run it. I plan to plead guilty as I do not have the time to deal with the courts. It says that if I do that, I will be assessed fines/surcharges. Can anyone give me an idea of what I am going to have to pay? It is my first offense.

Reserve deputy-a sheriff deputy that works when available,no pay.Right now the one car for 8 deputies is parked at the county garage. It would be a lot easier if you would be able to just go in your garage and start your shift instead of driving out of your way to transfer your equipment from your P.O.V to the sheriff car, also saves a lot of time.

As a hypothetical situation, say someone commits a crime and is arrested. Then, shortly before their trial, more laws are passed that could effect the punishment for the crime comitted. Would the court system also prosecute for these new laws, or would they not because technically they were not laws when the person broke them?

I remember I got in a little trouble with the cops and I spit on the ground. Next thing I know the cop is like "Hey son do you know I could give you a ticket for that!" I didn't believe him, but for all I know he could of. Is that true?

2 cops pulled up to me while I was sitting in the fire lane at a local Walmart.(about 40 feet from the front entrance.) My engine was running and I was in the drivers seat. If they would have asked me to move I would have. I explained to them that my husband will be out in just a minute and they went straight for my license and registration. My purpose in stopping there was so that I could see when my husband exitted the store. The entire storefront is full of handicapped spaces and there is nowhere close to park to see him come out. There are no signs outside of the Walmart indicating NO PARKING other than the stripes on the ground that say FIRE LANE. But, I was just standing there for a few moments. Should I bother to fight it?

The Bush Junta insisted that this guy be tried in some kind of Star Chamber military tribunal because some terrible 'secrets' might be revealed. Eventually he made it to a regular court...after being held for over three years without a lawyer in a navy brig. An American citizen stripped of his rights...it gives me the creeps. Does it bother you?

I was just wondering if off duty officers wear their vests and weapons and if so, does it have to be concealed or can it be unconcealed.

Why do so many people on yahoo answers talk like inmates aren't human? That inmates should just commit suicide to save tax payer money. What if it was your family member? Some people are locked up because they freaked out on their abusers who beat them or rapped them. It is so rude to judge and put everyone in the same category.

Is one year jail time adequate punishment for ending two innocent lives while DWT'ing?

I don't think so. An example needs to be set here. And he knew he was wrong...he denied using his cell phone when first interviewed.

I had a cell mate years ago who got 8 years in prison for driving a man to the Emergency Room. He was bleeding to death. The guy just so happened to be a bank robber. Don't you think some prosecutors just want their money and don't care?

How long does someone have to sit in jail before another state comes and gets that person? After they have put a hold on them? My friends husband has sat in jail in MI for 16 days and the night before he was to be let out on a personal recognance bond they put a hold on him. Do they have a certain amount of time or just when they feel like coming to get him?

Is it against the law to even be carrying a lockpick kit in the UK?
Its a hobby for me and has helped me and my friends on many occasions but is it illegal to carry it?
I have no intention of breaking in anywhere, its just fun to problem solve and helps if I get locked out.
I would be carrying it because its a set thats like a swiss army knife that goes on my keyring.

Okay, so i'm 19 years old and I got an underage drinking citation at a club. the club was for 18 an older, but someone knew someone and we weren't asked for our ID's and we were given bracelets indictation we were 21. A guy bought me a drink and gave it to me, and right when he gave it to me, an ABC cop asked me for my ID. I got the citation for possession of a mixed drink and misrepresentation of my age. I'm a good kid, no record, college student (pre med at that) and really don't want this on my record. What are my options? Lawyer? Take a class? How much will the fine be and how much is the class? Is there any way to beg for a LONG probation instead of a huge fine , since being a college student, i really don't have the extra 300 dollars to pay. The ABC cop told me i'd have to talk to a probation officer and not a judge. Any ideas? PLEASE PLEASE HELP! Also, why am I getting lawyer letters in the mail? Thank you!

P.S. I live in INdiana, but got the citation in Kentucky.
