I ran a red light. I honestly thought it was still yellow as I was going through it, but I probably did run it. I plan to plead guilty as I do not have the time to deal with the courts. It says that if I do that, I will be assessed fines/surcharges. Can anyone give me an idea of what I am going to have to pay? It is my first offense.

It doesn't say anywhere on the ticket. I have to plead, and send it in; then they mail me what I owe. I live in NY if that helps. (not nyc)

I just want to know how much it is going to cost me. I already know what my options are (I've been doing research) but no one seems to be able to give an answer for NYS. Can anyone tell me the cost for running a red light in ny?

Well it depends on where you are located, what the fines are for running a traffic control device, and if they have a processing fee on tickets. In WA state, if you run a red light, its 50 bucks plus 25 bucks for a processing fee.

Try writing a letter saying it's your first ever offense, you honestly didn't do it intensionally. Are proud of your good driving record & don't want it blemished.

John Singleton got off speeding on a Freeway, because it was his first offense.

Worst case, they'll give you another month to pay the fine!

Take a close look at the tidket, it should be on there.
Basically, all you should have to do is mail the ticket with a check to the magistrate whose name is stamped on the ticket.

You should be able to contact the magistrate for fine information. They will give you the amount.
