I had a cell mate years ago who got 8 years in prison for driving a man to the Emergency Room. He was bleeding to death. The guy just so happened to be a bank robber. Don't you think some prosecutors just want their money and don't care?

You are so delusional. Your friend did not get sentenced for a good deed. There's more to this story you probably were not told. If this guy really needed medical attention why didn't your friend call 911? Or ask other people for help with the dirt bag. I know, you have all the answers. Then why ask a question here? Sorry but there's not a lot of sympathy here for those who commit crimes then don't have the guts to accept their mistake. What's that saying? You can't make a silk purse from a sows ear. Very fitting in this case. Have a smart retort?

Coragryph said it all. I'm a prosecutor and I can guarantee you that my conviction rate has NOTHING to do with my salary. I send my defendants away for time commensorate with their crime or more if they have priors. Bank robber, rapists, murderers, arsonists, assaulters, etc get no pity from me and if I had my way, I'd have the rapist's "weapon" removed for life, assaulters that left permanent disfigurements would lose hands, legs, etc and murderers....would not pass Go, but would collect 230 grains at 1000 feet per second.
Oh yeah, your "innocent" waaaambulance driver was aiding and abbetting a bank robber by being the get away driver. Same thing as being the bank robber himself. Get a clue.

I seriously doubt your friend picked up a bank robber that was bleeding to death if they were not at the scene for the express purpose of driving the getaway car. If the injury was as serious as you imply the driver was certain to see the robber exit the bank. He was no doubt followed by whoever shot him. It does not take a rocket scientist to determine what is happening in that case.

I think the first guy gave you a very good and honest answer. it is not his fault you want everyone to lie to you and agree.Your cell mate was not totally honest with you [but then what would you expect of someone in jail] The prosecuters work on an annual salary and get paid either way. Grow up and stop blaming the justice system for guys that choose a life of crime.

Prosecutors get paid regardless of their conviction rate.
And nobody went into being a prosecutor for the money.
The person you mention was not prosecuted for doing a good deed. They were prosecuted for committing a crime -- namely bank robbery.
The fact that they also did a good deed does not "balance the scales" and allow them to escape punishment for the crime that they committed.
Try to imagine what the world would be like if you get one free pass for any crime for each good deed that you did.

When you say it like that it doesn't sound bad. But, I have a feeling your cell mate isn't telling you everything. Or the lawyer he/she was against was real good.
