That's a good question and a very good point. Inmates are human just like everyone else, they just made poor decisions for one reason or another.
Thanks for posting this.

I hope that you didn't take my answer personally, but I spend too much time protecting innocent people in making sure they stay safe. Inmates ARE human and have rights as well as anyone else. I would never wish anyone to commit suicide, especially not in prison, and I believe the rights of prisoner should be enforced more. The sad truth is that they chose to put themselves in that situation, regardless of the crime. I do not judge anyone and I firmly believe that everyone should be given a second chance in LIFE, maybe not in society. Kid's come into my office daily and it really hurts to see so many troubled kids, I wish that I could help them all. I go to the detention center and some are depressed, violent, anxious, but I treat them all as individuals and I don't judge who they are as people. I hope that they will come out better people and realize that laws and guidelines have to be followed. It sounds like you have a really big heart and maybe you would be perfect in this line of work, maybe a prison psychologist, but the sad truth is there are too many people in society being hurt by the people that are behind bars. Children, mothers, innocent bystanders, victims of drunk driving etc. etc. etc. Who fights for their rights? Please excuse the people with rude comments, as they may not fully understand why you care the way you do...I hope that this helps you understand....... :)

I agree too.
There are a very few who have committed such hideous crimes that they should never see the light of day again. (And for some reason these are the ones every thinks about when someone mentions the word "criminal" or "inmate")
But by far most of them didn't even commit violent crimes and really are not much of a threat even when they are released. They should serve their time, and be let go to live a normal life like everyone else.

2 out of 5 responses to your previous question say the inmates should be allowed to commit suicide. Only 1 of those appears to encourage it. Why to YOU put everyone in the same category?

One reason is people are very small minded, and if you don't fit in their perfect box, they consider you sub human. Usually these same people look at service industry workers, old peopl and children and other religions and nationalities the same.
They have no human compassion, and it is all about them. Thus making themselves less of a human that the ones they consider aren't human.
Another reason is some inmates have done things, and should never be allowed to breath again, thus they are like an animal.

Inmates are scum of the earth. The are not human. That is why people say such things. I had a brother in jail. It served him right. He deserved it.
Do you think jail should be full of rainbow streams and and acarnival-like atmosphere. Maybe we should give them $100 a day so they can go out and buy their crack and heroin back.
