my roomy said the cops might be after him and he wanted to leave the country. so i hatched a plan ,rent a uhaul for a two day intown move i gave them a 100 dollar cash deposit on top of the 19 dollar a day fee anyways after the 2day ride (missouri to brownsville texas) we made it to the bus station parked it right in front of the station and bought our ticket to cross the border the bus got stopped on the bridge and we got searched and checked out by homeland security and my roomys warrent showed up and he got detained the feds asked me how was i planning to get the uhaul back if i was in mexico i told them that uhaul would eventually find it and they said bullsh** since it was not reported stolen yet they made my drive it back to missouri.so the next day i called uhaul on the way back and they said there was a apb on the truck in missouri.i made up a story that i got really ill and could not drive uhaul bought the lie and called off the apb.the uhaul broke down 7 miles from the store

Forgive me, I'm not familiar with the customs of law enforcement so bare with me... I have a friend who was a sergeant in his department, this was about six years ago. He's now a lieutenant, but I haven't spoken to him in six years. Do you congratulate someone for being promoted from Sgt. to Lt.? Is that normal?

http://digg.com/offbeat_news/If_A_Cop_Tries_To_Tell_You_There_Are_No_Quotas_for_Tickets_They_Are_Lying

read that and then tell me if you really believe police quotas are fake...

The police have quotas, but just call them by different names. a bunch of liars hmm. Plus they themselves break traffic laws like nothing. It was on dateline or something, where a bunch of cops were breaking the city's own traffic laws without second thought...just to take their lunch at a restaurant they blocked a fire hydrant and stuff.

We've all seen those tv shows and movies where a cop needs a car, flashes his badge, and snags someone's car. I'm just curious if a cop can, LEGALLY, do that? Does anyone know of any laws in their respective states?

Recently pulled up to a local-police "checkpoint" - check your license and registration, you look all right, go ahead. (This is in the US).

Something about this process raised my civics-class hackles. What are the rights of a driver (and the rights of the police) in this case? Do the local authorities have inherent right to see documentation without probable cause to suspect anything is amiss? What happens if one declines?

Pointers to actual case law or documented articles a bonus.

I got pulled over for suspicion of dwi the other day. First, i dont hate the police at all, my brothers a cop, but in all honesty this cop was very unprofessional and impolite. Ive never been pulled over for this before so maybe i wasent expecting it or maybe the cop was just being carefull you tell me...He asked me to step out of my car and shinned his flashlight in my face, i out of instint looked away because i dident want to go blind, then he searched me and i said fine and he handcuffed me and asked to search my car, i said sure. and he found nothing, of course...He then asked if i would take a "field test breathizlier" i said of course officer (i was very polite the entire time) and i passed, because i had not been drinking. I reached down to get a cd and i went over a line a bit and he pulled me over for that. The entire time he acused me i had thrown a bottle out the window when i hadent, i told him to show me the bottle i had thrown, and he said my officers are looking for it

Yesterday, I got the second notice for Selective Service System registration, which said
"Refusal to register is a Federal crime punishable by a fine of up to $250,000 and up to 5 years imprisonment, or both........If we do not hear from you with in 10 days, we have no choice but to send your name to the Department of Justice"
Did I get freaked out? Heck Yeah! That's why I rushed out to the post office with bunch of copied documents and sent them. What I want to ask is, would I really go to jail or pay $25000 if they don't get informed within 10 days? Is there anyone around you who actually got into jail for not with the SSS?

i had an accident about 5 weeks ago on the 7th of july. I went through an amber light and if i had braked to stop the car behind me would have collided back of me and i wouldnt have stopped anyway so i wen throught the amber light and as my back wheel passed through it, it turned red. I ended up colliding with another vehicle and i admitted liability with my insurance. the police attended the scene and now 5 weeks later the police woman rung me saying she wanted to speak to me and ask about what had happened ??? and said i could be charged for going through a red light which means i will get 3points and 60quid fine. Where do i stand in this situation by law ? and how can they make me confess to something ?? Wen the accident happened i was shocked n the other guy kept shouting and making out i went out of the red light and i said i dont know what happened i misread the light signals. as far as i know it was amber ndmy cousin who was sat next to me sed the same. where do i stand ? plz

I hope I'm posting this question in the right place.
A new outdoor playground was just installed at a school in our neighborhood. It is on school property next to a field which includes a baseball diamond, basketball court and tennis court. But the placement of the playground structures make it obviously part of the school rather than the park. Will I be able to bring my 3 year old to play there outside of school hours? Since it is school property will I be trespassing if I bring him there on the weekend or after school gets out?

in ny state does anyone know the amount of jail time one would be sentenced to if they received 2 counts of a class a felony in the second degree?

The person is not a minor and has been in the county jail two times before. Was caught selling drugs (special k and ecstasy) and also received on top of the 2 felonies a class A misdeameanor for marijuana

this person is my brother, i am nothing like him, do not do drugs or even drink, have no relationship with him but he is being arraigned tomorrow and then i have no idea what will happen after that but i want him in jail and i hope they keep him in there even when hes awaiting trial

my parents have done so much to try and help him but he always chooses the wrong path. they are both a mess right ow and i wanna try and prepare them for the jail time he may face. if i were to guess, hes screwed.
