I got pulled over last night because I forgot to turn my lights on. Everythings fine, I din't get a ticket or even a warning. I haven't told my parents yet (because it was too late when I got home and now there at work) what do I do? Call them at work, wait till they get home? I have to tell them.

just be honest and say mom/dad "I forgot to turn my lights on and this nice police officer stopped me let me know and possibly saved my life by stopping me. I have learned my lesson though. I'll make sure I have them on at all times". And you see cops really do protect and serve :) Plus he/she must of been in good mood. Because, that is easy a ticket. Worry when you get the ticket not when you don't. But, this should be a lesson to be learned and not done again. Tell your mom and dad after they ate and maybe had a drink :) Not as soon as they walk in the door, give them time to relax a bit....because chances are their day may have been crazy and may take it out on you. Wait until after dinner or while eating together and ask to help set the table and clear it..lol! OK. Good Luck.

Tell them when they get home. Just say you wanted to let them know, but you didn't want to worry them by calling them at work or by waking them up. The longer you put it off, the more likely they might get annoyed.

Well if you didn't get a ticket or something, there's nothing to worry about. Just bring it up sometime when they get home, make sure they know there's no fine, and it'll be ok.

Why do you have to tell them? You made a small mistake, and a police officer was kind enough to alert you without giving you a hard time about it. If you forgot to brush your teeth one day would you tell your parents? When you forget to do your homework and your teacher chides you about it do you call your parents at work ASAP? If you feel you must tell them, wait til they get home and casually mention it. It's not some sort of an emergency or anything.

No, you don't have to tell them. Why would you? What would the point be? All they're going to do is worry. No ticket, no care.

I wouldn't tell them. This was something minor that they shouldn't even care about. They will never find out the otherwise.
