There was this lady that got really mad at me in public and claimed I cut her off. I was wondering if there is any laws against road rage?

I really do not think getting mad at someone is "road rage". What you do after getting mad is what I consider road rage. A few years ago in the city where I live a couple got angry at a woman for something and followed her for about 10 blocks. She stopped at a red light and they tried to get in her car so she turned and pulled into someones driveway and started blasting her horn to get attention from the neighbors. Even that did not stop the couple, they kept trying to get at her and did not leave until some people came out of their houses. By then they got the license plate number and the pair were prosecuted. They got a jail sentence and probation. I do not remember the actual charges, but now we have a new law to cover it. I have not heard of anyone doing it since. But it seems a shame that we had to make a new law to cover these actions. What's next?

There is no law against road rage directly, but indirectly yes. Following too close, wreckless driving, even disorderly conduct can be charged to someone who has road rage. Not much can be done unless a cop see's this. However if you know your states laws on private persons arrest, and the laws of disorderly conduct, you can personally place that person under arrest and the cop has no choice but to place the charges on whoever you put under arrest. Private person arrests in most states are only allowed for anything that disturbs the peace, and disorderly conduct is one of them.

Not unless they make contact with your vehicle, display a weapon etc. I get those calls sometimes wehre somebody calls saying they got cut off and the person "scared" them. There is no law for being an ****** while driving.

Apparently you are another Socialist who thinks that Government should solve your problems. Perhaps this person was doing a public service by letting you know you were driving badly. Perhaps you were talking on the phone or drinking a latte instead of concentrating. Try to learn from the experience before you do something dumb and an 18 wheeler crushes you like a bug.

not specifically. it has to be whiteness by an officer for you to be charged with it. unless she has proof and witnesses and want to go to court over it.
i get a million calls a day for it. most ppl's ideas of road rage aren't really road rage. inattentive driving and not paying attention is not aggressive driving. it's more like reckless driving.
and someone flipping you off is not aggressive driving either.

It's what they do as a result of that rage that matters. Unless she made death threats, she isn't going to be arrested for briefly yelling at you.

In my own jurisdiction there are two type charges:

1) Careless driving; and

2) Reckless endangerment

Depending upon what the driver does would determine the correct charge.

From your description....Careless driving!

Best wishes.

I doubt there is a law against getting angry at someone, but if she rammed you or hit you or did something physical, there would almost certainly be a law broken. Otherwise, it's sticks and stones...

Yes in Florida there is a charge for it. And a hefty fine to go with it.
