Assault and battery eh!. Bad idea. First off how much do you really know about this rumors really taking place. Did you hear it from her mouth or did you hear it from a third party? Anyways, there are better to deal with such a situation. First line of defense is maybe talk to the person and see what their agenda is. Maybe they don't know that they are doing harm. Second is maybe talk to her parents and have them deal with the problem. Third is maybe wage a psycological warfare. Spread you own rumors until it start bothering her to give her a taste of her own medicine. However the third option is really a last ditch effort and should only be used in extreme cases. It all depends on how bad the difamation is.
Note that when you pursue revenge you are also poisoning yourself. For example, lets say you went and beat this girl up. You think you are a Hero right?! WRONG!!! everybody will know you as the woman beater. No girl will date you fearing that you will hurt them too. It will ruin your reputation. Remember that other people do not know about what is going on. All they'll see is that you beat up a girl not what the reason was which you will never be able to justify. Spreading rumors will also give you a bad rep because whether you like it or not some people will take her side as much as other will take yours. Besides people are busy with their own life to care about so much drama. My advice to you is to disasociate yourself from this girl. If anybody ask then correct them as to the real story or at least your version of the story of what really happend. The girl will leave you guys alone after a while because nobody is going to waste their time for the rest of their life hurting another person. After a year or so she will not even care and most people will do the same. Remeber that whether you like it or not people will make up their own minds about what happened even if the thruth is presented in front of them. Some people don't even need help to come up with a story of what really happened. weird eh! but, thats the way it is. Just lay low and stay as far away from this girl and she will forget about you over time.

First of all men who hit women are not cool.
That is trashy and so not right.
Some girls can kick butt.
(That would be embarrassing.
If you win..... woo you name will be trash
You will be in trouble at school and some body's daddy or brother or the men in uniform will come and lock you up

wow we can so tell ur 14 dude. and no it'll be "assult" even WORSE if after school. During school itll go 2 the principle after 2 the police. Plus dont be stupid. Talk 2 her. If u beat her up NO girl will ever go out with u with that reoutation you'l be marked for the rest of the year. Talk things out and dont beat her up, its not cool 2 beat up girls even if they are capital b;s sometimes. just ignore her or make her jealuos or something. No, it really doesnt make a difference what gender she is but you can't beat her up because you think she is talking negatively about you. You could just confront her and question her on her behavior. Its a much more mature way to respond to the situation. I understand you are only 14 but be smart about the problem.
Beating her up will not only make the problem worse, but it will get you tossed into jail.
You have not right to beat her up. You might need help.

You can get arrested for violent assault, and your family can be sued! Violence is never the answer. You need to talk to someone, and figure out the best way to handle this. People will always talk behind your back - it is a sad fact of life. All you can do is deal with it, but never, ever through violence. If anyone beat up one of my kids, I'd own their parent's house by the end of the month. The courts would give it to me as part of the lawsuit, and the little felon who hit my kid would be expelled.

Actually, I doubt you could.
If I were her father, you would spend time in juvenile detention after I got through having you arrested.
What she is doing is not right, but no sense getting a mark on your record for her immature acts. Grow up and learn to deal with people without losing your temper. That will take you a lot further in life.

Nope, with all the laws and civil suits today "beating someone up" is no longer accepted. Thirty years ago you could have done it without anyone blinking...but now your parents could be sued in civil court and you could spend time at the juvenile hall....no fun.
