You purchased an assault shot gun because someone tried to break into your house. Not going to do you much good if you're not home. Next time, if someone does break in when your not home, then they will own an assault shot gun.

Why does it take 10 days? Most places don't have a waiting period on long guns. No you are not wrong. You should exercise your second ammendment rights. The police are not going to be there to protect you if you are a victim of a crime. They get there after the fact. Make sure you know how to use your weapon and educate everyone in your home on proper gun safety. The worst thing you can do is try to keep it a secret from your family. They need to know how to use it and what it is capable of. Good luck, I hope you never have to use it in defense, but it is better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

In the US you have the right to bear arms, the right to protest yourself, a right to protect your family, and protect your property. Make sure you know how to properly use the weapon. Get a gun safe, secure the weapon. Just a thought, what happens if someone breaks in while your not home and steals your weapon. How will you feel? You need to make sure it is secured well.

I don't think so. It may have been a bit of a knee jerk reaction to being violated but if you learn how to use it and keep it out of children's hands etc. why not? I don't own a gun and never will, I'm a lousy shot.

I think you did the right thing. Everybody have the right to feel safe in their own house. Just use it in a smart way and keep it away from kids, please.

When do you pull the trigger?
What's too late ... and what's not soon enough?
Too late is when the intruder shoots first.
To soon is when you find out you liquefied an unarmed 12 year old.
Basic training is important.

Also consider the possibility of your weapon being stolen when you're not home ... and used for evil.

Not if you had the right intentions when you ordered it and are prepared to learn how to use it safely and be responsible with it.

Yes, I think so! One night my husband returned early from a business trip...I encountered him when I got out of bed to go to the bathroom...in a pitch-dark hallway. Scared the pee out of both of us, and if I'd had a gun???? Never heard him unlock the front door. Do you live alone, or could someone surprise you like my husband surprised me?
