The first time, they will probably arrange for a new court date and withdraw the 'failure to appear' warrant that has probably been issued. If you miss the second date, don't expect them to believe you forgot.

Your friend will be fine as long as she pays the ticket when she shows up. I would suggest calling first to find out what the intentions of the court are. Depending on the severity of the situation. I hope this helps you out and Good Luck!!!

Can't fight the speeding ticket anymore. Plus, they add fines for not showing up to court

At this time, there is a failure to appear warrant issued against her. If she goes to the clerk of the court and asks to speak to the judge, he/she may rescind or cancel the warrant.
The worse case scenario is that she could be arrested and held until the bail (the ticket plus the fine for failing to appear) is paid.

your friend will have a failure to appear warrant, don't be alarmed the cops aren't going to kick doors in looking for your friend. most of the time you can contact the court clerk and set-up the next available court date. worst case scenario is your friend will get an additional fine. take care of this ASAP, it will look better on your friend. jail time is highly unlikely due to the fact jails are overcrowded and they don't want to waste the space on a minor charge such as this.

It's best that she goes herself, but if it's been a long time, she better have nothing to do. A bench warrent has been issue for her arrest. Do it now and they should be cool with her, as long as she pays. They just want the money.
