My husband was placed on probation in Novemeber 2004. He is scheduled to be done with probation in November 2007. However, the probation office has changed the amount he was supposed to pay 3 times. He has never had a restitution hearing. There is no way that we can pay the remaining balance on his probation in 8 months. What will happen?

telemarketers still call and will not place me on thier own do not call list. I registered with the "do not call" when it came out and report abuses, but I thought that there was a stiff fine ($7000) per call, yet they continue over 2 years..they even laugh and swear at me when I yell at them to stop calling my home..It is primarily home loan telemarketers. Help!!

You are more likely to get this sort of job if you are black or Asian, which is a fact. But why should this be??
Is this not discriminatory against white people?

What are YOUR PERSONAL thoughts on this?

I was stopped for drink driving. I blew a reading of 42 mg so was offered a blood test which takes 2 weeks to come back. I know i was stupid drinking and driving. I am awaiting the result and don't know if it will come back higher than the breath test or lower. Obviously i want it to come back lower. Naomi UK.

my son is 10 years old and autistic [mildly] he can act up and on occasion has an attitude. The School have no idea how to handle him and always call him disruptive, if there is a problem -blame my son. Today I discovered the most appalling thing. While my son is excluded for two days the rest of the class was encouraged to write about my son, i.e what has he done and what is he like, I am sickened and appalled - is this legal?

If jail is meant to be about 'rehabilitating' people why is there so little for people to do in jail apart from sit around in the day room or stay in your cell. While I was there it was mainly pretty boring but people could have been helped with stuff like English lessons, drugs counselling or training courses.

I know people aren't in jail for years but some are there for months at a time and would probably be able to get something out of it if more stuff was there for them to do.

Why do cars have to pull off to the side of the road when a funeral procession passes? She said to pay your respects, is that true or is it also a law? Curious.

What police are expected to do begins in the legislature.

When laws are relatively few and more carefully chosen, the pool of people who would find themselves able to serve *in good conscience* as an officer of the law is greatly expanded. Conversely, the number of law enforcement job openings is relatively low.
The result is an excellent police force that people generally respect, as only the best candidates are chosen from a large pool.

When laws are more numerous and chosen with less care, fewer people will agree with them and fewer people will find themselves able to serve as a law enforcement officer, in good conscience. At the same time, demand for officers to enforce the more numerous laws will be higher, and departments will have to hire more people from a smaller and potentially less desirable pool.
Not only will this cause the police to lose respect among the citizenry, but the distorted police image will compel the wrong people to join the force for the wrong reasons.

In the jail I was in it was just the regular orange jump suit - just wondering if there are other places where they do things differently - heard about old style stripes and even pink uniforms but don't know if this is for real?

Always wondered why they stamped the jail name on the uniform as well - you are hardly going to take it with you when you get out.

from a friend or relative or anyone for that matter about the law and what police can do if that friend or relative has nothing to do with Law Enforcement or the Legal System?

It amazes me how may people get the Jail House Lawyer answers to legal questions and take that advise to heart. Would you ask your friend the best way to do laser eye surgery on a loved one and then go do it when the friend is not a doctor?

We are cosntantly seeing people who take the advise of others about questions like "Entrapment", "If I ask if your a cop you have to tell me", "You can't search without a warrant under any circumstances", "You did not read me my rights when I was arrested" etc.

Legal questions can have serious legal outcomes if the question was answered incorrectly, so why would you ask someone who is not in the legal field and take that advise to heart?

Three years ago, he molested my little sister, and he hurted her emotionally and physically. I think he did it twice, but my youngest sister was too dumb to even report this to anyone. When his wife(my oldest sister) found out, she was furious and kicked him out of our house (they live in the same house as I and my parents). Several days later, she decided to forgive him. They did talk over about it in their room. He probably said something very sweet to her, so she could forgive. To me, my oldest sis is very naive and, well, not smart.

My youngest sister seemed to forgive him already which surprised me a bit because she hardly forgives me or anyone in my family. I guess she moves on with her life.

My mom know about this, but she didn't really do anything about it. The problem is.I still hate him with all my heart.
if i call the cops, my sister won't help me be a witness. the guy said he might sue me for doing something for disgracing his reputation..um, okay. I ddn't get it

I have been victimised by my employer for a number of years but have not taken any action because of the stress it would cause me and I also have a 3 year old child and am a single mum and fear of losing my job. My empoyer is a local authority. I was recently passed over for promotion again due to victimisation due to previous grievances taken out against senior management some of whom were on the interview panel. I was eventually given another lower position. I had my first supervision session yesterday with my Line Manager who is also in on the plot. In the middle of the supervision session I noticed a tape on the table making a sound as if the tape had ran out and i asked her if she had been recording our conversation and she said yes. I asked her if she had asked for my consent and she said she did but I could not recall her asking for my consent.

What action can I take against my employer and what laws has she breached. I am fed up and intend to take the matter further
