Online classes aren't the answer. You should be in a class where you can learn about your instructor if he/she was in previous law enforcement, and get their experiences and advice. Also, you will be in classes with current law enforcement and be able to talk face to face. One cop told me you should always have a backup plan, like business in case it doesn't work out.

I took Administration of Justice (police science) and recommend if they offer it at your college. The college up here doesn't offer it, it's a bummer because AJ is much more focused around police as first responders and not Criminal Justice as a whole. Report writing classes, evidence, and search and seizure classes are a must. Good luck!

Skip the classes for now. Most agencies have tuition reimbursement benefits, so apply and get hired first. Then after your probation period is up start taking classes and get paid back for the tuition. Most agencies only require a HS diploma to get hired, and then factor education into promotion process, which is many years after you are hired.

No class will prepare you law enforcement. Yeah some people say "criminal justice". The best way to learn anything is by doing it.

There are a few on-line colleges that have a degree in Homeland Security....That would be the way to go right now....Also, any classes in Business Admin. would be good. I have a degree in CJ...If I had to do it again, I would have chosen something else.
