The Cuba Committee exists to promote academic initiatives between the University and State of Alabama and Cuba.
The University of Alabama is promoting a cultural/awareness exchange with Cuba. The goal is to provide an enriched learning and research experience for students and faculty of the University, and to foster exchanges, programs, projects, and other activities with our Cuban counterparts, so that as students and teachers we may benefit from mutual interests and experiences.

Alabama shouldn't be engaging in official business with Cuba, as per the fact that Cuba doesn't recognize the U.S.
