Last Saturday some one broadsided our truck. We had the green light, he was supposed to yield, but instead he turned right into us. Our truck was totalled, and my mom had to go to the er by ambulance. We only have liability insurance. On Sunday, the police called and said he was driving with a suspended license. Then we got a call from our insurance company saying that his insurance was expired as well. We just got the police report, and it says that someone else is the cars owner ( I don't think that they are married-different last names), and she has liability insurance. My main question is: is her insurance responsible? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Does anyone know why "water boarding" would not be considered "torture?" I am not asking if you agree with the practice, but rather how does the Federal government define "torture." Thank you.

Within legal terms, we have a legal case going at the moment where we are filing for judgement against someone, and the defendant has been stalling the whole process.
Our lawyer said that he "placed them on the bar", which means they have to answer within 7 days, or they are not allowed to defend?

What exactly does this "place them on the bar" or "put them on the bar" mean?

I'm looking into purchasing a firearm but I don't know what the laws are as far as registering it. I know the Constitution, for what it's worth these days, forbids the government to restrict gun ownership to law-abiding citizens. But am I required to register it?

I'm one of many people who have fallen prey to Net Detective/HD Publishing Group. If you're interested - check out the site http://www.ripoffreport.com/searchresults.asp?q1=ALL&q4=&q6=&q3=&q2=&q7=&searchtype=0&submit2=Search%21&q5=Net+Detective
Not only they don't deliver (you can find more information in your phone book than what they have), but according to hundreds of other victims like me - Net Detective keeps charging $29 to your card EVERY MONTH instead of it being a one-time fee as promised. Those who used a credit card can just dispute the unathorized charge, but I am among the people who used the debit card - and they lose money this way every month with the bank being unable to stop the charges and Net Detective support services promising to reimburce and then charging again. Their customer service people are trained to give you the runaround and not let you off the hook. The automatic payments DO NOT STOP. I just joined, discovered the fraud and can't cancel. Help!!

My parents are co-signers for my 33 yr old sister. She moved into the apt in April 07, rent is $425 / mo. and has only made the 1st month payment on time. Just yesterday I found out that they had to pay the last 4 months of rent or my bum of a sister would be evicted and if my parents dont pay the rent they will be taken to court and would have to pay the expenses.

Is there ANY way to wash their hands of her and the cosigned contract at all???

I appreciate your advice, thank you so very much!

I am an atheist. I don't believe in god. But whenever I fill up a form(e.g- admission form of college etc.) I have to fill up the religion box as 'hindu' which don't like. As Freedom of religion is fundamental right guaranteed by the constitution of India, is there any legal process 2 become an atheist legally/officially.

I took my car in to get it checked out because it was leaking some coolant. All I asked him to do was tell me what was wrong and how much it would cost to fix it. Now he is telling me that he has fixed the problem and I owe him almost $500.

Do I have to pay for repairs that I never verbally authorized nor signed a repair order for?

We have a girl who did color on a lady she was happy with it when she left and paid for it and even tipped the gal. The next day she tells the girl that she is not happy with her hair and she feels like she was overcharged and that a more expensive salon would not have charged her as much which is not true she would have paid more she had multiple services.

She came back to the salon another girl offered to fix her color and fixed the color like she asked her to do. This girl insisted on getting part of her money back and the new girl refunded part of her money.

Well the check she wrote us to begin with she canceled altogether plus she took our $50 when we called her about it she told us she went to the more expensive salon and they told her that her color was a mess and it would take a long time to fix her hair color. Now she liked this hair color when she left for the second time and we did as she asked.
Now she says she should sue the girl that did her hair to begin with.

Ok , Please dont judge me by what i am about to tell you . Please rember that this is only a friend of mine who begged me to ask this question .

OK now heres the thing , my friend is in a rock band and is paying 8,000 $ to make a music video for thier song . Anyways , its a political song and its mostly about the us government . Now rember , just because hes my friend doesnt mean i aprove of this video . OK well he wants to have a scene in the video where he is holding up a flag he set on fire . He has another scene where he sets 10 , 1 dollar bills on fire . He also has a scene where he is dressed as a general in the army and he is shot in the head ( im pretty sure thats what he said ) and he has a picture of president bush which he will shoot with darts and then set on fire as well . And he wanted to know if he can be sued or taken to jail for doing this in his video . He said that hes not going to pay 8,000$ for a video that might land him behind bars .

Today at my school there was a threat written in the bathroom. Tonight are principal sent out this message:Late this afternoon a student reported inappropriate graffiti written on a bathroom wall at our high school. The graffiti included threats against our school.

The high school administrative team along with the Avon Lake Police Department have taken all precautionary measures to ensure the safety of our students, faculty, and staff.

On Friday, October 26, 2007, we will have additional law enforcement on hand throughout the school day.

At this point and time we have no reason to believe that it is necessary to disrupt our educational environment for our students.

Sincerely,
Dr. Walker

Do you think they are handling this situation properly? In this day and age you have to take all threats serioulsy and a couple extra cops at my shoool probally want make a difference if there is a problem. Should I stay home?

This is my 3rd semester at this university and the same thing keeps happening. When I first started they asked me what types of accommodations are out there for deaf students. I gave them a list of possible ideas. We went with the icommunicator system but started with an interpretor until my professors were trained. I only used it in one of four classes and it didn't work. I spent about three weeks without an interpretor once we discovered that the icommunicator wasn't going to work. The second semester (spring 07) I had the same problem. I am having the same problem this semester. Since October 1st..I haven't had an interpretor in 3 of 4 classes. How do I go about filing a lawsuit against the insititution?
