Is there any way to have a misdemeanor purged from your record if it happened 10 years ago?

I`m trying to get a security position but they say if you have a prior record of theft then you can be disqualified wether it`s a misdemeanor or not.

you may be able to have it sealed, go to court and sue or petition the court to do so.

Yes, but it probably costs $$$$$
