I'm looking into purchasing a firearm but I don't know what the laws are as far as registering it. I know the Constitution, for what it's worth these days, forbids the government to restrict gun ownership to law-abiding citizens. But am I required to register it?

I would be glad to answer your question.

In the state of Nevada, you generally DO NOT need to register your firearm.

In the state of Nevada, there is no state law requiring such registration. However, Nevada has what is called "Local Gun Pre-emption," which means that towns and cities are allowed to pass ordinances that require gun registration. However, these types of pre-emption laws generally only exist in a handful of cities - usually larger ones.

To find out if your city has such a ordinance, you can contact your local police department and inquire if such is the case.

Across the board, Nevada has very easygoing gun laws, so you should be in good shape. The State of Nevada earns a "D" from a Brady Campaign. To view a basic description of your state's gun laws, go to the link below.

The local police department should be able to help direct you in the proper procedures for registering your firearms.

This is the basic summary for Nevada gun laws, firearms registration is covered in the 4th topic.

i do no longer comprehend any gun vendors who oppose registering weapons and that i stay in Alaska the place in simple terms approximately each physique has one. If there is an opposition to registration then this is with the aid of the fact the government would comprehend the place each and all of the weapons are interior the form that it would ever attempt to confiscate them from the folk. This has occurred in different international places. it is going to in no way take place right here using fact we've the consitutional good to submit to hands so as that we would desire to shelter ourselves and overthrow an oppressive government.

Jason didn't explain that a "D" from the Brady campaign is a GOOD thing.
