According to the Wikipedia page on "Languages in the United States" (for some reason Yahoo will not post this answer with the link to Wikipedia included), there is no official language of the United States. Various conservative groups would like to designate English as the official language and restrict other languages from being spoken in schools, government offices and even in businesses. Liberals, progressives and immigrants' rights groups point out that to do so would be contrary to our country's founding principles.
According to the article, even in states that have legislated English as the official language, "in practice, this only means that official government documents must at least be in English, and does not mean that they should be exclusively available only in English. For example, the standard California Class C driver's license examination is available in 32 different languages."

Hey Bell,
This is from your third link:
"Many people are surprised to learn that the United States has no official language."
Do you even bother to read what you cite as evidence?
