Her husband died at the age of 43 (very suddenly) and he used to do everything. After he died, she got a flier on the door advertising a window washing service for a set price and hired the guy to do just that (which he still has never done). After she hired him for that he offered to do many more things around the house that really needed to be done, such as fixing up their yard and various other small jobs. Then he started offering to do such things as "renovate" her bathrooms, which desperately need work... Unfortunately, she didn't write up or sign any kind of contract outlining work, quality of materials, etc...but I've seen the quality of work the guy has done and he's ripping her off. I can tell he has no experience or skill whatsoever concerning most of the stuff he's agreed to do. Also, she has paid him for jobs that, to date, have not been done. Does she have any kind of legal recourse? I can provide more details if needed, please email me, I really want to help her.

Today's news reported that FEMA held a phony news conference with FEMA employees posing as reporters feeding soft ball questions to a FEMA PR manager.
What twisted, convoluted logic are you stalwart Bushies going to use now to justify this outrageous insult to the American people? Let's see how many of these clowns are fired, and better yet who knew of it and who had the authority to allow it to take place?
To the teenage wanabes please go back and finish your homework, I am really not interested in your meaningless opinions.

I know politicians, movie starts, business executives are considered public figures and subject to open slander or crticism, but what about school officials? I want to write a very critical piece about my son's school principal and school board director and place it in a blog on the web. It will spell out how these two are life-long personal friends and how it has affected the board directors judgment in accessing and dealing with various controversial issues.

If I am to do this, could I be held liable and sued for slander? I know you can't when it comes to most public figures, like politicians, but what about this scenario?

So why do conservatives not support the rights of the states to decide the medical marijuana issue? Is it that they support states' rights only when it suits their political agenda?

When the Community guidelines and moderation deletes an answer to a question, I was told by other individual's on this forum, sometimes they will give an explanation, other times they ignore you as if they are SS Chief Heinrich Himmler strutting around a concentration camp in Nazi, Germany, loathing everyone's right to have an existence on this media forum? How can this be considered a forum with any credibility, when discriminatory practices prevail without recourse to truth or justice?

I got terminated from my job because I ran out of Sick Hours and PTO Hours. I called in because I have a medical condition, and when I came back to work, my manager suspended me for a week without giving me a chance to explain why I was sick. After my suspension, I was told to come back to work because I had to meet my manager and HR.When I got there, right in front of me was my termination letter.

Before signing the termination paper, I told them about my medical condition which is on their records because I had surgery done on it during my 1st year of employment and this is a recurring medical condition. I had proof of medical records from my doctor, but they REFUSED to see it because they said it was already "TOO LATE" for anything to happen. They had to continue with the termination. They didn't even give me a chance to explain and show proof that I was sick.

Do you guys think this is discrimnation based on disability, and should I take legal action for wrongful termination?

This is a big debate in constitutional law. Some people, like Justice Scalia, think that the Constitution should be interpreted in accordance with the original intent of the drafters. Others, such as the late Justice Marshall, have been explicit that the Constitution's meaning changed as society's notions of justice and fairness change. Who has the better of the argument here?

Consider: The Framers of the 14th Amendment, which Brown v. Board of Education was based on, though separate but equal was perfectly fine, but the Court in that case nevertheless abolished separate but equal and demanded integration in spite of the original intent of the drafters of the 14th Amendment.

On the other hand, some argue that the living constitution theory gives judges nearly untrammeled discretion in determining the meaning of the Constitution. People who disagree with the right of homosexuals to engage in sodomy (Lawrence v. Texas) say the Framers did not intend to protect that conduct.

We moved into this rental property (house) September 1, 2007. I had to hound the realtor who represents the owner of the home to do an official walk-thru on September 17. During the walk-thru we noted all the issues with the house. To date nearly nothing has been repaired. I have leaks throughout the house, fusebox needs to be replaced, my dryer is not getting enough power to heat, the outlets on the kitchen do not work. Electricians came to do estimates and are suppose to fix things Saturday. A plumber came out today to check pipes and has the get the order approved b4 he starts repairs b/c it's more serious than he thought. What can I do to ensure speedy repair if it's not done by the end of this month?

I believe that pornography should be outlawed. It is demoralizing people. I strongly believe that our government should take action to put an end to pornography over the internet. Not only that, but they should enforce these laws by criminilizing the possession of pornography, like making it just as bad as possessing weed.

What is your opinion on this issue?

I see people quoting one definition of marriage read: "The legal union of a man and woman as husband and wife." Thus being the reason, or one anyway, that they are against the marriage. Although there is also the definition: A common-law marriage.

It's odd that Americans don't realize that there are many English words that have 1 or more different meanings.

So the question is... Do you realize marriage could be:

The legal union of a man and woman as husband and wife.

The state of being married; wedlock.

A common-law marriage.

A union between two persons having the customary but usually not the legal force of marriage: a same-sex marriage.

A wedding.

A close union

and not just the first definition?

Definitions taken from American Heritage.
