due to racist and sexist affirmative action type policies?
I thought that society has agreed that racism and sexism is wrong?
Your thoughts? Perhaps something to make me feel better about personally being a victim of racism and sexism.

I am talking about affirmative action policies. 20 years ago I was applying for government jobs and it was quite clear that I was not the color or ethnicity or sex they were looking for. I never got hired and I ended up better off in the long run however I do feel like a victim of affirmative action which limited my job choices as a young white man. The only other way to get one of these jobs was to "know someone." Am I and others victims of this policy due reparitions?

No, unlike others we just take the abuse as we are expected to while everyone says "get over it" because God kn ows we had so much to do with crap that happened 150+ yrs ago.
I love how someone with less qualifications and lower test scores beat out a more qualified person simply because someone of their race or gender was oppressed at one time generations before their birth

I'm not sure exactly what your question is, however I know that African Americans are to some degree pursing reparations for slavery.

In my opinion that is wrong simply for the fact that they live in a country that gave them general wealth beyond that which the probably would have received in Africa, also....why should someone who's never owned a slave pay someone who never was a slave?

In that respect, concerning reparations to white males in general, then of course I think it's wrong. Even not concerning slavery or otherwise.

The biggest claI'm that someone could make against a white male in terms of racism or sexism....i suppose...would be to claim somehow they impoverished them. Which is bogus I guess.

I really wish I could be more help but im not sure what you're asking...?

These policies were put in place to promote diversity in the workplace. At that time, minorities and women were not being hired due to race/sex. The policy did not say you can not have any white males - they just required that a company meet certain guidelines in having minorities and women.

Granted it is not the problem today that it was in the past. Once women and minorities were able to get into the workforce and show what we can do - companies were more receptive to hiring us - regardless of affirmative action.

However, the work place is still not perfect and I have been passed over for job opportunities because my reproductive organs are internal (as opposed to external). My solution is to quite bit*hing and continue to work my fanny off. I ended up changing companies and now have the job I wanted and am doing very well in a male dominated field.

It is entirely possible that you did not get the job for other reasons. Given your flawed logic here it seems entirely possible to me.

doesn't that show anything about this country in the 1st place to even have to put a law like affirmative action in place to guarentee that a person of different race and sex will have a chance to get a promtion or good job.that shows that white men were not getting discrimnated against but blacks and women.ur just parinoid u probably have btter job then an1 answering this question.

Against white men in general? No. I don't support making people pay for things they did not do.

If you have been personally damaged by a specific white man, then go ahead and sue him.

I disagree. Get over it. Preferences does not = discrimination or sexism.
