This is my 3rd semester at this university and the same thing keeps happening. When I first started they asked me what types of accommodations are out there for deaf students. I gave them a list of possible ideas. We went with the icommunicator system but started with an interpretor until my professors were trained. I only used it in one of four classes and it didn't work. I spent about three weeks without an interpretor once we discovered that the icommunicator wasn't going to work. The second semester (spring 07) I had the same problem. I am having the same problem this semester. Since October 1st..I haven't had an interpretor in 3 of 4 classes. How do I go about filing a lawsuit against the insititution?

I'm sorry but you have a few morons answering your question. Yes you can definately file a lawsuit I honestly can't believe you have dealt with it this long. This is a problem and you're the one suffering. Are you doing well in your classes? It would be very difficult I'm sure. Get some information there's got to be organizations or something that could tell you the first steps in a case like this. Obviously a lawyer would be needed but they obviously want to get paid. So gather some info and then take charge. Something will come of it for sure and I don't see how it couldn't be in your favor.

the "americans with disabilities act" supports your lawsuit

find an attorney who specializes in this area and file your case

i guarantee the school will conform as soon as they make news because they will look very bad in the public arena

i don't know what the heck is wrong with these people on

Was it the interpreter that didn't work or icommunicator? If the interpreters didn't work, why are you upset they don't offer them.

You might want to talk with someone at the school about your troubles, and if that doesn't work try to find a university where they can better accommodate your needs.

I think you could very well file a lawsuit against the university.
I've never done it but I guess just search and contact local lawyers until you find one that will take on your case.
good luck!

It is your responsibility to accommodate society for your problems, it not the responsibility of society or anyone else to accommodate you. Take some responsibility instead of making excuses. I seriously doubt the amount of money to take from the public will ever be repaid by any sort of work you do in your life time. You are a drain on society and on the system.
