Our elementary aged children are forced at the beginning of every school day to stand with their classmates and recite The Pledge of Allegiance. Its little poem that expresses your patriotism. Personally, I have a problem with this, and the majority of Americans have a problem with me because of this! I'm also one of those pesky characters who refuses to stand, hand over heart at ballgames while the American anthem plays on. What do baseball and God have in common anyway? Is God going to concern himself about a ballgame while babies die in Sudan?

My refusal to participate in activities is threefold, a) being that I'm agnostic and GOD is in every one of these works of 'art', b) ummmm, isn't there supposed to be something called separation of church and state and c) I'm a non conformist by nature. This is not an argument about whether I'm right or wrong. I'm only curious if other countries force patriotism down impressionable school children's throats in the name of God?

If a parent sues because a child gets hurt, and the money is put in the child's name, the parent is granted guardianship, at what age does the child gets the money if the parents don't give it to them? And the child is being taxed on the interest from it? At what age is the limit that they can use it "for the child"?

After receiving yet another phone call from someone who refuses to show their identity in the Caller ID screen, I'm left to wonder, should it even be legal to call someone yet hide your identity? These companies constantly use unfamiliar abbreviations, code words, junk like a number with all "1's", etc.., in an attempt to hide who they really are. Shouldn't they be required by law not only to show their actual name and number in the display, but also tell you who they are? I've even had MCI lie to me in the past and claim not to be MCI. Thoughts?

M. Vick recently had additional restricitons placed on him by the courts. Is it normal for the legal system to drug test you while awaiting sentencing. Not to mention the sample that was tested was an older sample, I'm not defending Vick mind you but, sounds to me like he'd being penalized additionally due to his celebrity.

My father left his property to his 6 kids, with a life estate reserved for his companion. She has lived there for the past 6 years and she has paid the insurance and taxes. I have recently discovered that the property taxes have not been paid and the property has not been maintained. example: The septic system is bad and she has rigged the plumbing so that the gray water from the kitchen goes out into the gravel street rather than fixing the septic system. The property is in a rural area of Montana. Are the owners (6 kids) responsible for maintenance, taxes, and insureance, or the person living there under the life estate? None of the owners reside in MT nor do any of us have a relationship with the person residing in the property.

My husband of 5 years recently left me, claiming mental issues, but in reality he was seeing another woman. I caught him by cell phone record, he bitched up and just left, still to this day not admitting to his ways, despite the $300 phone bill and me having a conversation with the other woman. I love my husband very much and am distraught that he will not even talk to me. He left me me almost 5 months pregnant (1st child), with all the bills and said he would help me, of course that hasn't happened. He makes $33/hour and she is a nurse, he is living in her house, driving her new car, while I am left pregnant, working for $11/hr paying my medical insurance. I am considered a high risk pregnancy, I had a brain tumor removed, and also have suffered a stroke. I went to domestics for spousal support to help me through until I received child support, do I need a lawyer for my first meeting or can I do it alone, I have all the proof and really can't afford a lawyer. Thanks

I've been trying to speak to anyone at CAB or solicitor and not getting anywhere fast. Summary: left ex 1999. Changed addresses on everything related to me. 2001,Consent Order from court that the ex agreed he would keep paying the kids' insurance policies, proceeds had to go to the children on maturity in 2011 and the ex should do nothing to cause them to end, be cancelled or lapsed. Last month, one of the policies has paid out, although not due until 2011. Cue me contacting the insurers to find that all paperwork was still sent to my ex's address, that he stopped paying them in 2002 & I was never informed or I would have kept the policies going. So kids have lost out on policies worth £2,500 each. Insurers have given me copies & he has had over 20 letters written to me at the ex-marital home from them which he has never handed over & from what he has told the kids, its clear he's opened & read them. Anyone know where the law stands on all this?

why in usa there is the death penalty...this is revenge not justice

if someone is condemned to death he can't think about what he had done, his orrible crime, but he will think about the day when he will loosing his life...sentences have to teach to the person who had committed the crime ,not to pay him back with his own coin...if this person have the sentence of life imprisement he could think about what he had done why his life is so wasted and if it's worth the effort to remain for all his life in prison...

Hi there, I have long been interested in starting up my own security company after completing military service. This would work on a contractual basis (for instance, a research and development establishment would offer a contract to guard and protect it's property and assets).

I would aim to recruit primarily ex-military personnel, but would of course consider applications from ex-armed police officers etc etc. My question is, are any such private security personnel, working in the UK itself, allowed to be armed, given our civilina gun laws?

Thanks!
