Can anyone help me? We had to pull our children out of daycare. Our daycare provider was not happy, and before we left on the last day, she promised to mail us her SSN for tax purposes and $40 for a high chair that we bought and she broke. We waited a couple of weeks, never got anything from her. When I finally called her number her sister answered and said she moved to another state and didn't have her cell phone number, which, as close as they are I don't buy it. We paid her almost $5000 to watch our kids, and we want to be able to claim that on our taxes, but without her SSN, we can't, and it's basically like we paid her under the table, which we had absolutely NO intention of doing. We're in CA, if that helps. Is this fraud? I KNOW her sister knows how to get a hold of her, she is just unwilling to help. Should I go to the police? A lawyer? Anyone ever had anything like this happen to them?

They created a website and posting personal information. Like her date of birth, her pareents name, county she was born in,criminal background and they are doing the same for me and her father and siblings. Is this illegal? How can I get the .com website shut down? Do I call the police? Hire a lawyer? Some on the information is true while some not. What do I do?

An old roomate sent me something they knew I wouldn't like, and since he doesn't want me to know where he lives he put a fake return address on the package. I'm just wondering if this is illegal, it should be, and if any action could be taken to get back at him for it, lol.

Do you really think the charges should be dropped??
I think its insane! I really do believe if the races were the other way around it would be totally different. And that makes me more than upset.
What these boys have done needs not to go unoticed, they need to pay the price just like every other america. They could have killed this poor boy and knew exactly what they were doing when they were kicking him in the head after he had already passed out. I believe they should get serious jail time expecially because most of them have past violent behavior. They all need to go to jail, no not for 22 years but some good jail time might do them some good.

This question is specifically but not entirely confined to when they quote the McDonald's hot coffee case as case and point, literally.

Without knowing the surrounding circumstances that led to that jugdment which, is more complex than most lay people tend to appreciate and, is actually sound law.Should people if they want to make a point, especially in law, know the full facts first?

Tomorrow is another Friday night out with the girls, while they drink Pina Coladas ---- and I watch.
I will be 21 on December 20th, and most of my friends have turned 21 by now. They go out for nights on the town, most of the time I can't go at all because I am "too young" to step inside the doors of any alcohol serving facility. When I can go, I am forced to be the designated driver.
I don't believe that drinking alcohol is required to have fun, but it is frustrating that my friends - who are litterally 2-4 months older than me - are considered, by law, so much "older and more responsible" than I am, that they are allowed to enter whatever public place they want, and I am treated like a 15 year old.
Yes, I realize "it's the law", so I do not need any comments from that perspective, or saying that I need to "grow up and deal with it". I am dealing with it, but sometimes I just don't know if I agree with it.

Ok, I bought an item in a parking lot from some guy who said he needed to get rid of it. He told me they actually sell for $1000, and he even showed me a magazine with an advertisement that showed the same item and the msrp. He told me it was brand new and the box was unopened and everything. I bought it for (ahem) a high price, though at the time I thought it was a good deal being only a fraction of the retailed price. I learned later the the item actually sells for much cheaper and isn't even an item worth buying. Plus some of the things that the box claimed to have weren't even in there!

I know! It was a stupid move! But can I do something about it or it's entirely my fault and not worth reporting. I actually took down his license plate number, but I'm scared he'd come out looking for me if I actually do decide to do so. What should I do? :( !!!!

Shopping Walmart a few days ago with my pregnant fiance who is 9 months along and picked up a few items: cotton balls, vaseline, lotion, toothpaste, and a maternity bra. Upon checking out, I was told by the cashier she needed to see my ID because I had to be 18 or older to purchase the maternity bra, I pulled out my ID and she went ahead and rang up the items. Called Walmart the next day and questioned the store employees about this, they all said that I did not need to be 18 to purchase the bra. Now I am feeling offended and I am thinking the cashier was just being nosey and wanted to see how old my pregnant fiance and I were (we do look a little young, but not that young, we are both 23). Is there any course of action I can pursue, I am feeling VERY offended and obviously the cashier had no right to card me. I don't have the reciept nor do I remember the cashier's name. I can talk to the manager but is there any guarantee that I can get something out of it?

P.S. I paid with cash

I just bought four packages of hot dogs on sale. Three are good, but the fourth one expired on the 20th. Today is the 27th. So besides the obvious - don't eat them, take them back - what are my rights as a consumer? What if I didn't happen to look at the dates and they made myself or my daughter very sick? Just curious.

I had often wonder how come it's ok for someone to break into your house, get hurt and sue.. Where is the justice in that. What about when someone breaks in without a wepon and steal's from you. The only rights you have is to call the law because if you shoot the criminal than you will be put in jail because no matter what you do to protect your family it seems the law has to side with the guilty party instead on the innocent...How many people see a problem with that.

In light of what Jack Straw has been saying, please answer A, B, C or D
If someone breaks into your house through the night, and you wake up and hear them but dont know if they are armed, do you

A: Sit tight and wait till they go to phone police.
B: Go and confront them with just your bare hands
C Use some sort of weapon to stop them, but not to excess
D Grab a baseball bat and beat them to a pulp

Personally, I think that once they cross my door, they are threatening my family and my property and they will get whats coming to them, and I would expect not to be charged with anything.
