I hired a contractor through Service Magic. After the job was done, you're required to rate the contractor and his work using several criteria. I told the truth and submitted my comments. A few weeks later, I received an angry phone call from said contractor who indicated he felt he was losing business because of what I had said, adding that several people had canceled their scheduled jobs after reading my comments. He threated to sue me unless I changed what I had said into a glowing 5-star report. I felt intimidated. What should I do?

We got notices on our doors saying they have contracted with a tow company in town that will be "randomly" going through the complex and towing for "violations". Now most I completely understand such as Handicap, Red Zone, Fire Hydrants...
Now, this is the one that gets me, this is verbatim, ""Any vehicles being stored on the property. This includes those
vehicles moved from space to space occasionally without regular usage."
Well, my wife’s vehicle got a notice on it saying they will tow it in 72 hours because it "appears stored". Her car is dirty. but used daily. Can they have it towed? How do they PROVE its stored?
HELP

HERES MORE. Its been 6 months since the accident & now she calls bout money. she says it because she needed money 4 brakes. 1st why did she wait so long, she musta felt like it was her fault. 2nd, fact she wants money 4 brakes is like sayin, u hit my car & i want money for a cat. wat do u think. aloha

Kind of ironic and highly hypocritical when you have someone who week after week for years talk about having to stay strong to bring the "evil doers" to justice. And stubornly pushing the need to inject this very legal system to most of the planet...that is, until his friends and cronies land under it. Then it is like f*** you all in the a**, I will do as I always do, what I MAKE justice. And in the mean time innocent men sit in Gitmo and secret offshore gulags subject to torture and shabby treatment by being at the wrong place wrong time, or having trumped up charges. Way to go G.W. you are a shining example of hypocrisy. "Scot free" will now be "Scoot free"

actually when something happens opposite to our belief, we start firing on our system but we don't come forward to improve/follow the rules.
We have to follow all these rules like we follow in the office/homw.
Can't we ?
Afterall these are made for our welfare.

Lately it seems as though I find myself surrounded by people who are trying to intentionally get me upset, or abusing their power (landlady, heads of departments, whatnot) through intimidation and threats. Is it me, could I be attracting this to myself somehow? Why does it seem that most people in a position of power usually abuse it by punishing those who do not conform to their ideals?

My parents are under the impression that I am out of control and that I need someone to whip me into shape. I live with them right now. There is no reasoning with them. There is nothing I can say. I MUST join the military or leave this minute. I am not a bad kid, I am 19 and I don't do drugs or drink, I don't stay out late. I just really don't agree with their rules. They gave me a car. It is mine, but they claim it is theirs.

I don't have a job or a car to get one. My dad won't let me use the car even though it is mine. It was purchased for me and I used it exclusively. It just sits in the driveway.
So what I need to do is join the Army/ Air force and get enough money for a car and an apartment. Can I join the Army reserve and get a sign up bonus big enough for that? Or will I have to join active duty and give in to them? It feels like they are forcing me into this commitment that will take years of my Life.
What I am trying to do is move out and get a car and stay in the city.

Our nation's laws have been twisted to fatten the pockets of these two men. Our civilians have been murdered while Bush sat on his thumb and Cheney was in hiding.

They're responsible for killing thousands of Iraqi civilians, endangered thousands of American troops and stripping our country of any dignity it had.

I say we should demand these two enemies of America step down.

Haven't they created enough damage and filled their pockets enough?

Well, I suppose the only people who are allowed to lie to Congress are the Republicans, but only in treasonous cases.

If your a Democrat, you get publicly chastized for it. If your a Republican you get your sentence commuted.

Nice show of croneyism, Mr. President.

Black High School Students in Louisiana Threatened With Lynching
By Rick Perlstein
TomPaine

In September 2006, a group of African American high school students in Jena, Louisiana, asked the school for permission to sit beneath a "whites only" shade tree. There was an unwritten rule that blacks couldn't sit beneath the tree. The school said they didn't care where students sat. The next day, students arrived at school to see three nooses (in school colors) hanging from the tree....

The boys who hung the nooses were suspended from school for a few days. The school administration chalked it up as a harmless prank, but Jena's black population didn't take it so lightly. Fights and unrest started breaking out at school. The District Attorney, Reed Walters, was called in to directly address black students at the school and told them all he could "end their life with a stroke of the pen."

Black students were assaulted at white parties. A white man drew a loaded rifle on three black teens at a local convenience store. (They wrestled it from him and ran away.) Someone tried to burn down the school, and on December 4th, a fight broke out that led to six black students being charged with attempted murder. To his word, the D.A. pushed for maximum charges, which carry sentences of eighty years.

I was curious regarding the legality of using an alias. I know for business purposes, one must register as a DBA. What about using an alias for personal reasons? Its not for criminal or otherwise malicious purposes, just to maintain an additional level of anonymity in certain situations. I'm not talking fake ID's or anything either. Just looking to use another name when I want to (with obvious limitations such as air travel).

If it helps any, this is mainly for New York.
