And the purchase is for work, and the cashier gives you change. In this change you find a valuable coin (say, a 1956 silver quarter). Can you keep the valuable quarter? Does it matter if you have spend out-of-pocket first for the purchase and then have to submit to your company for reimbursement (ie, the purchase was authorized, but no company funds were provided prior to the purchase)? What if you made a personal purchase along with the company purchase during a single transaction? Is there a higher ethical standard if you are a government (city/state/national) employee rather than an employee of a private company?

Arizona's governor signed a bill Monday that prohibits people from hiring illegal immigrants and requires businesses to verify applicants' employment eligibility.

"Immigration is a federal responsibility, but ... it is now abundantly clear that Congress finds itself incapable of coping with the comprehensive immigration reforms our country needs," the governor said in a statement.

I took my belongings to a Uhaul storage unit in a taxi. I asked one of the employees where I should set my belongings while I went into the desk to obtain my key/paperwork. The employee told me where to set my things, I went in to get the key, and when I came back out, half of my belongings had been stolen. Is Uhaul responsible for this?

I recently got into a car accident, my fault, as I rear-ended someone. The police officer gave me a ticket for careless driving, and told me to give him a call if the brakes were the problem and he would dismiss the ticket. After getting proof that the brakes were indeed the cause of the accident, I called the number he gave me only to find that he no longer worked for that police department. I contested the ticket, but now I'm wondering if court will go like other moving violations; an officer doesn't appear as a witness to the violation, then you win the case. Is this true with an accident?

Where I work, we use the point system. You get one point for each day you call off, and 6 points get you fired.

If we feel that we are too ill to work they still point us, even if we bring in a note from a doctor saying that we shouldn't have worked that day.

This is a resturant that I'm talking about, so when I tell the manager that I'm throwing up every few minutes, I don't think I should even be allowed near food.

Can anyone give me websites or phone numbers that can help me LEGALLY prove my point. I don't want you to just say "Oh dude, that sucks" I want real information to show my employer just to let him know that I know we're being taken advantage of.

My little brother was driving to the airport to fly to Florida with a friend to visit my brother when he was hit by a woman who blew a red light. Everyone in his vehicle was wearing seatbelts and they were properly insured and registered. The other car, however had 8 people in it, 4 adults and 4 children, none of which were wearing seat belts, no one in the car had a drivers license and the vehicle was not insured at all. No one in the vehicle that struck my brother was injured, everyone in my brothers car was taken away on stretchers. Also, my brother was supposed to leave for the Navy in 3 weeks, but he sustained such a serious knee injury from the accident that they don't think he's eligible anymore to join the service. A young man, answering his countries call to war, seriously injured by a negligent idiot who may have snuffed out his carreer before it ever started. Furthermore, he is a National Karate Champion for over seven years running, now he can't move his leg. Help.

Did it make you lose faith or respect or trust for the justice system here? Do you think there are millions of people locked up for long terms for doing a lot less harm than Libby did? What was the real reason Bush commuted his sentence? Will you ever get the same kind of break? Or anybody you are ever likely to meet?

I know this was a little while ago now, but was linked to the damn 9/11 stuff.
Apparently this was the first case that evidence obtained under tourture was admissable, it's probably been discussed and everything but...
seems to me this is the US saying "we don't really care what you think, we think you did it"
after going through enough tourture someone will probably say anything!? is it me or is this just an insane thing?

Seems to me there are just too many laws on the books, and more added all of the time. I think it is ridiculous to have a law for everything. So I got to thinking what if we could only limit ourselves to 2 laws what would they be. I say laws against murder and theft.
