My landlord has me and my family living in a home that has a damaged rug that was damaged due to 2wo floods that occured because of pipe problems. (Remember it's his home and his pipes that caused our flooring to be damaged) The rug is filled with sewage water. 2wo the basement has mold on it walls which is definetely unsanitary and can cause serious breathing problems (lung infection, asthma, etc.) As a dweller to the home I would like to know if I were to call the city (NYC) 311 and complained about the conditions if the landlord at his will could remove us from his home with out legitament reason. The reason he might want to react like this is because we are paying low rent compared to other residents in the area. I've lived here all my life but after my parents died things have fallen apart drastically.

My brother was chased down the block by a small dog, and the dog bit him on the left leg. The owner of the dog, intentionally let the dog go saying "Bit him" 3 times. But the owner is in denial, this happened on 7/31/07, and i am planning to sue. I live in new york city, and my brother is 5 1/2. I called the police, and they got the report, and the Doctors said to call there vet and get there info, so if i do sue, im planning to sue for Violation, and some more stuff

If everything works out, how much money should i get from the lawsuit?

It's ok if you cannot provide a exact number, im looking for a estimate, please tell me what will happen, and how much should i get...Thank you

I needed a letter for a Bank in America, so the letter was typed up giving my mother power to act on my behalf. I took it to a lady who is a Judge and a JP here in England she read the letter, asked to see my passport and proof of my address. She then got me to sign the paper in front of her and she witnessed my signature. She gave her name and address at the Court where she is sitting with a phone number if she needed to be contacted. Is this letter legal and does she have the same power as a Notary Public to witness my signature or do we need a stamp on an official letter for American use?

For example - I took my husband to an ER - where they did nothing for him. He had a rash all over his body, and the doctor we took him to said he couldn't help him and he needed to be seen IMMEDIATELY. So we took him to the ER, but didn't have insurance. I imagined we would be in debt for years, as they would have to do tests and all that - but it was worth it.

Anyway, seriously the dr. LOOKED at him and wrote a prescription. That was it. No tests. No bandages. Nothing. Just looked - said it was a dermatitis gone horribly wrong and wrote him a prescription for cortizone and allergy meds and sent us on our way. We paid 200 dollars, which was expensive for a visit - and left.

Now we have a bill for the DR for 700 and the ER for another 350.

I have refused to pay.

My credit sucks... so I am not worried about that.

But what can any company really do to enforce that bills are paid?

My wife and i are seperated. We live in tow different houses, and i have custody of my four children. My Ex-wife is living with her boyfriend. One day after the kids vist with their mother, my oldest daughter said something happened. She said her moms boyfriend showed her something and asked her to bite it and her mom was their and all she said was oh stop it and walked outside with the guy. She never called the cops or anything. So the kids went to a counsler and talked to DFS workers and they all think something happened. Then the police detective thinks so to. So they say they will do something about it. The kids mother said she has nothing to do with the guy anymore and that she didn't know anything about it. She wants the kids to start comeing back over again. Well i found out that the guy is still liveing with her. She never made him leave or anything. But nobody wants to beleive me..Im affraid their mother is going to get them hurt. What can i do to make the state listen?

ok... I dont have (any I.D.) S.S. card,picture I.d.nothing! when I tried to get a birth certificate online,they told me that a credit card had to be in my name to get it online(yeah right) when I tried to get a birth certificate, they told me that I need (3) pieces of I.D. to get that! does anyone know of any other way to get I.D.? and im in one state (TX.) I was born in another (MI) HELP!!!

My parents are getting divorced. I'm going to live with the one in NJ instead of the one in NY where I have always lived. The Rule is permit-NY 16 NJ 17. License- NY 16 NJ 18. With my permit I can only go to school so is there a way that I can legally live with both of my parents but go to school in NJ. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!

My friend works at a wal-mart in California and there is a man and woman of (Middle Eastern desent) that are buying cell phones by the dozen at the wal-mart. They buy them every few weeks and say that they are for family when they are asked about it by the cashier. I know that some terrorsits have used cell phones as some sort of detinater.

The management has been notified of this by the employees. Management says that there is nothing that they can do because they are afraid of being sued.

My friend is very concered about this (as she well should be). What can be done to have the authorities investigate this? What can we do?

This is based on me winning the lotto and or having a relative die and leaving me an insane amount of money -


There are about 25 floor staff where I work - Time and time again I've see disrespect and so on for these "uneducated" labourers - It makes me angry

The people above me have told me if I want to join them on the floor that can be arranged etc

So ----

If I handed out 10,000 dollars to each one of them on condition they quit - a total of 250,000 (1/4 million)

The floor staff the true engine would be gone - I am thinking this would be a good little lesson in where the engine and the "important" people are and it isn't a paper pusher in an office who does little to justify an over inflated wage -

But assumeing I win the lotto - and did this and everyone (or 90% plus) took me up on my offer

Could I be charged with an offense if so what is it ?

she's 17, I'm 20. we both live in kansas. the age of consent is 16. will I go to jail if/when we have sex? I'm confused by the law. I don't know if 16 is the age she's legal to have sex, but only with 16 or 17 year olds. Also, can a 16 year old have sex w/ some 45 year old guy? I am against that. anything more than 4 years I'm against.

Bottom line:
I was hired by a woman to design a catalog. I have an ENTIRE email trail saying all from that she is going to pay me half up front, half at the end to that she has managed me wrong, apologized for being a "b---h", etc.
I have been strung along since April, since this project was supposed to be done in March. She finally said I would be paid in July. I have since received an email saying that she "respectfully concluded" that she will not pay me the rest since she doesn't think I did my job.
However, I have emails supporting that she has said the opposite.
My problem is that she said she would write up a contract in the beginning and never did. I do have many many emails that clearly say from her that I will be paid. Does this stand up in court?
Also, can I sue her for court costs and missed time at work and/or the stress and financial burden this has put on me waiting out her payment that was to be paid in April?
I completed ALL THE WORK I was supposed to.

What has happened to our legal system? According to the Jury, Ramos and Compian broke the law. They have the right to request an appeal. I have never once heard Lou Dobbs claim that they were innocent of the charges.
