my college roomate who is over 18, 19 probably was having sex with a 15 year old girl. he is a nice kid doing something really stupid. i dont want to get involved and dont live with him anymore. i also have no proof except i could hear them having sex like every freakin day! i dont want to get involved, but since it is such a serious matter im wondering am i legally liable? i would feel terrible reporting it even though it is a serious crime because the kid is just being an idiot but he isnt a young girl hunter or pedophile or rapist or anything like that, he is a hard working pre med student who thinks he is in love. but i would feel even worse behind bars.. so in california what are the chances i could get in serious trouble for this?

During the Vietnam War, the theory went that if you lived here, you owed the country something back. So, we went to fight in Vietnam. But all the while people who lived here were avoiding paying their taxes, and people like Vice President Cheney, said they had better things to do. With what we now know, how can we paint anyone who avoided the draft, as a coward and/ or a traitor?

My brother is currently in jail on several charges and he declares his innonence. He has been locked up since March, had three prelimary's, and a line up. He was not identified inthe line up and the person involved even said it wasn't him.

He is having a problem getting his BILL OF DISCOVERY and is on his way to yet another (his fifth in fact) arraignment. They keep postponing it because they do not have this information.

Please explain what a bill of discovery is, and also please explain if this is against the law what the Philadelphia court system is doing.

As far as I know the BOD is evidence against him, and that is something that he OR his Public Defender should have.

Why hasn't he gotten it? Can they give you five arraignments?

We are hopefully near the end of a civil suit-IF we are awarded,(being that being right doesn't let you win) I am wondering how the tax laws work-does it depend on the type of award-ie;damages,emotion stress etc. and how is the money dispursed? Does it go to the law firm where they take their cut and then to us? Do we pay taxes on all and then have to pay the lawyers? Can we write off their amount or does it stay separate and they are taxed? Its so hard to find this on the net-I've tried to be reasonable and search but its like looking for chicken and stars in the Campbell soups! Thank you very much in advance!
PS-if anyone had any referring websites too-wonderful! Its been a stressful and long year and a little knowledge could help alot-Our lawyer is a poker face type and acts afronted if we bager him too much.

I have applied for jobs that say that they pull a consumer credit report on you. I have recently had a Chapter 7 discharge of debt. Can a company legally use this as a reason to not hire me?

Why do they tell me they are interested if they aren't ready to hire? Also, they have informed me if I find a position elsewhere that they will "speed-up" their process. Any suggestions or ideas to what they REALLY mean?

WORDS FAIL ME - SO... QUOTE "An RAF typist who injured her thumb at work is to be paid almost half a million pounds by the Ministry of Defence. The civilian's award is almost 30 times the amount a serviceman would receive for the same injury.....The woman, believed to be in her 20s, developed a repetitive strain injury while typing computer data. ....Critics claimed it was an insult to the 2,626 British servicemen who have been injured fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq. Defence analyst Major Charles Heyman said: "An award like this to a civilian who is never going to be in fear of her life drags down morale. "It shows where the MoD's priorities lie and those don't appear to be with the soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan.

"The soldiers will be shocked and astounded as they all know people with severe injuries who got nothing like that

The person has been to court about three times. the plaintiff has never came but the defendant has. The defendant has been to all trials. No murder or anything like that. No side has been heard yet.

The London lawyer representing the injured bomber Dhiren Barot today warns that terrorist convicts are being targeted by other inmates in British jails. And she predicts a Muslim 'backlash'.

Barot is a Muslim convert from London who was jailed for life last year for planning mass murder in London and New York with explosive-filled limousines and a radioactive 'dirty' bomb.

Apparently because he has been injured in prison he is expected to make a 'substantial compensation claim'.

His lawyer, Muddassar Arani has complained that Muslim prisoners in Durham's Frankland prison are in particular danger: 'There are not that many Muslim prisoners there, and there is safety in numbers...I don't understand why they can't put them in a separate wing where they can be protected.'

What do you think; are prisons failing in duty to 'protect' jailed terrorists?

1) I want to know if corporate lawyers speak in the court room or not and if not what is their main job for the company they work for?
2) If they don't speak in the court, are they eligible to if they have passed the bar exam?
I am just wondering b/c I'm interested in corporate law but was confused about the above.
Also, how much money do entry-level corporate lawyers make on average?
Thanks

I bought an item from a large retailer for around $1500.00. I canceled the order a few days later. They told me it would be fine, wouldn't ship, etc.

The next day I got an email it shipped. I called again since my card had been charged and I asked them to re-route the package back to them before it go to me (it's big). They said they would. NP.

The packages (its a few shipments) started arriving and the tenants under me signed for them and accepted them on behalf of me when I wasn't home.

I called again, they credited my card the full amount, and said they would send a dispatcher to come and get the items.

I can't return it to the store because I'm worried they may claim I still have it later, besides the fact that it's COMPLETELY out of my way and a HUGE burden.

They never came to get it. I called again, they still never came.

They sent me an email saying the order was closedt/aken care of.

I have the items, I have the credit.

...What would you do?

he was even on a Morning talk show this morning . my question is why isn't that guy in jail? why is it taking the court system so long to get his guy off the streets?

I am in a partnership with two other people and wish to dissociate from it. We do not have a partnership agreement, but we have all invested unequal amounts of money into the business. I am only interested in getting back my investment and do not want to be a part of the business. I want to limit my liabilities if they wish to continue the business.

Can I dissociate from partnership w/o partners consent? When I dissociate am I still obligated to my current responsibilities or am I "free" from the partnership? I'm assuming the dissociation happens once my partners receive my notice to dissociate because we do not have an agreement stating otherwise.

I am a contractor and i feel like i got cheated at small claims court. The lady, a former customer, sued me for 1276 and won. The issue is that she works at the small claims office and i feel this influenced the judge's actions. He didnt pay attention to the contract, cut me off when i spoke, and awarded more money than was due. What can i do? I know i can appeal within 10 days, can i get it moved to another court? Would an attorney take such a small case? Any help would be appreciated!!!
