How do I put my name on the deeds of a house? I live in the house with my boyfriend but an not on the mortgage or deeds. I was going through few problems and did not want to be part of it. Now though I think it's financially and legally important for me to get on the deeds. What do I do? Who do I contact and does my boyfriend have to agree to it?

Yeah it's legally and financially important for you to 'get on' the deeds if you're after half of what the house is worth! You'd definately have to get him to agree to it and sort out the mortgage so that you start paying half of it if you want any kind of ownership of his house. And a 'woman's right' to be on the deeds is the same as anyone else he knows - if you want to be on the deeds you gotta cough up some money (unless your bf is very niave/generous) !

2. You will need legal advice as to how to do it if he agrees because there is a mortgage outstanding and this could cause complications.because he cannot give clear title as it will affect the mortgagors security. I think you may find yourself paying stamp duty. Nevertheless I think it is a wise move for you. I'm not sure about him though but that is between both of you. The last sentence in your question suggests that there is a lack of trust between you and your boyfriend otherwise it would not have been asked. Your boyfriend would have just agreed. You would not have contemplated forcing the issue

As far as i can see, it's completely his house so of course he has to agree to it. But you really should have gone in with him at the start- I wouldnt blame him if he didn't want you on the deeds, all it would mean to him is that you get half the house if you split up. Good luck!

Absolutely your boyfriend has to agree. You will need a solicitor to draw up new deeds for the house with both your names on. To be included on the mortgage your boyfriend will have to re-mortgage and include you as another party. Your income will be taken into account jointly when deciding what mortgage to offer you.

I'm just wondering why you would be considering doing it without your boyfriend's consent...

If I was your BF, I'd drop you like a hot potato, especially because you want to SNEAK behind his back to get on the deed.

Your boyfriend would absolutely have to agree to it, because he'd be giving you part of his HOUSE. Me, I wouldn't put anyone else on my deed unless I was already married to him or unless it was an ailing relative and I wanted them to have a place to live if I died.

What you do is simple. Leave him and the house. Get a job. Buy a house. Pay the mortgage.

U did not pay 4 it,stop trying to earn something 4 nothing! Go get ur own,and maybe U might have some weasel try to put THEIR name on it,it would serve U rite!
