I have a room that I am renting out in my house at a discounted rate in exchange for them to serve as a maid to clean my house, "Live In Maid". Because I am not paying them I am hoping they are not an employee, more of a renter... How does this work? And what forms do I need to protect myself?

Lou Dobbs demands that Jury decisions that he disagrees with should be overturned by Congress. What gives him such authority? The Jury did find those guys guilty. Lou has never said that he has any evidence that they are not guilty. He says they should be let go because they tried to kill a suspected drug dealer. If I tried to murder someone I suspected of selling drugs to my kids, would Lou give me the same kind of support?

The United States is a nation of laws. We believe in our Constitutional rights above all else. If American Citizens were being held indefinitely with benefit of trial we would be outraged. Yet we condone this behavior for detainees at Guantanamo Bay. Now I am not advocating that these people should be released outright, or given the rights of American citizens, but how can we condone indefinite detention in absence of formal charges and trial. How is this different from say the Soviet Union jailing political dissidents in its Gulags? A practice most of us found appalling by the way. Consider the quote below from Commander Jeffrey Gordon, a Defense Department spokesman on the matter and then give me your thoughts.

"The government does not have enough evidence to try the bulk of detainees in a federal court system, yet maintained that releasing them would be foolhardy."

I was arrested about a month ago for a crime I did not commit (Public lewdness). The case was dismissed. Yesterday I receive a call from a co-worker saying that the incident was in a local newspaper. The date on the newspaper was the 18th As I read the article I noticed that it mentions what school I work at, subject I teach, the make/model car I drive, the arresting picture and contact to my job was attempted. The article did not mention that the case was dismissed. Because of this incident, I fear that my reputation as a teacher is severely Damaged and I may loose my job.
Is this considered in any way slander or defamation of character?
Is it possible to get the article reprinted with the entire story?
or can I ask them to remove my picture from the internet?
If I choose to sue, what are my chances of a positive outcome?
HELP!!!

I was the renter of a duplex apartment, and we had a fire. We lost everything but our lives-thank god. This fire happened in july 2005. Now last Friday, the 27th, I was served with a summons. My old landlord's insurance company is suing us for $80,000. They're saying it was child negligence of my 2 year old as the reason for the fire. They're saying my 2 year old(at the time)is responsible for setting the fire. In the summons it says "On july22 2005, the defendants failed to properly supervise a minor child who negligently and carelessly caused a fire while playing with matches..." It says we were responsible for supervising him and for keeping the matches in a safe place. This is bullsh!t! I was cooking, the father was sitting in the living room, and my son was playing in his room. The fire started in my room. And I had the matches on top of a very tall dresser. I feel like just because I admitted to having matches in the house, they're automatically trying to place the blame on that

I mean, it wouldn't be murder, so would they be able to charge her with anything? Do you legally HAVE TO report that a fetus was a stillborn or bury it? What are her rights as the child's parent? I realize this will spark debate because of religious issues but if we can keep it clean, that would be great.

I have an aunt with down syndrome, my grandmother past away 4 years ago and I have been taking care of her. My aunt's sister has legal guardianship of her, but now she is planning on taking off and leaving her behind (abandoning her). I have aso found out that she has been taking my money my aunt recieves from the state. Can the state take my aunt away from us if we are not her leagal gaurdians? My grandfather is still alive and lives with my aunt (which is his daughter with down syndrome).
Can her sister get in trouble for that money? I want to make sure nothing happens to my aunt, and I want to know if their is anything legally I can do? Any information will be greatly appreciated.

A well regulated militia being neccessary to the security of a free State, the rights of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
The Second ammendment seems abundantly clear in granting "the people" the "right" to not only own weapons but to carry them. That is what bear arms means. And "Shall not be infringed" is very strong language indeed. Any encroachment or limitation is an infringement on the right to keep and bear arms. Registration, liscencing, reqired training, these are all infringements. Every gun control law in the country violates this constitutional right. If you know a valid legal reason it doesn't, I'd like to hear it.

My husband sold his house on, what was supposed to be a 2 year contract. Well we recently noticed that the contract does not specify 2 years, infact the buyer has until 2028 to pay us off! We talked to the lawyer and he is willing to revise it, for free. The problem is the buyer is not willing to resign it. BUT, looking through the contract it says they aren't allowed to make improvements to the premises, without our consent. They have done painting, they took out part of our fence...there are several cosmetic changes they have made and not told us about. Can we get them on that? And take the house back or demand the full price on the home? What legal rights do we have about this situation?
