The UK will not reinstitute the death penalty ... well, not yet at least.
BUT, if the UK becomes an Islamic Republic, then appropriately "Islamic" methods of execution will be used for criminals transgressing the new Shariah laws that will replace English and Scottish law.
Hanging, beheading or stoning seem to be the current favourites, although firing squads are a close runner-up to the top group. And public, of course.

It all depends on the sort of crime they have committed.
Lets say the death penalty would be imposed for these crimes..
Murder of an adult
Violent Rape of an adult.
Then any of the above would be OK, but the cheaper methods should take priority, IE hanging, bullet to the head.
Then these crimes...
Murder of a child
Rape of sexual assault of a child
These criminals should be locked up for a week with the parents and family of the victim and they should die that way.
Just my views.....don't take it personally !!!!
The prisons are full, the streets are still dangerous, this country has too many criminals and not enough jail space, most re-offend anyway. And why keep someone in jail for life. Its pointless and expensive.
The money could be better spent elsewhere.

Lethal injections work well here in the US. Of course we don't carry out the death penalty as often as we should and apparently love paying taxes to feed and house felons. :o/

Personally, I think the death penalty is too easy and quick for paedophiles, murderers, rapists and drug dealers.
But if I was asked to choose a method of execution, I would pick burnt at the stake.
Slow, Painfull and public, would put people off those crimes.

Lethal injection. We do it to cats and dogs all the time to spare them suffering. Any violent way would make us as bad as the criminals being executed ... let's bring it in now though!

You should read the July, 2007 issue of Scientific American on lethal injection.
I hope that some of the people who proposed gruesome punishments know that capital punishment is the death penalty not the torture penalty.
