I took my belongings to a Uhaul storage unit in a taxi. I asked one of the employees where I should set my belongings while I went into the desk to obtain my key/paperwork. The employee told me where to set my things, I went in to get the key, and when I came back out, half of my belongings had been stolen. Is Uhaul responsible for this?

Maybe... Maybe not. Unless there is a sign ANYWHERE on the property stating they are not responsible for lost or stolen items. Regardless of who told you or where you put your stuff, they may not be responsible. Now, if you had the unit and pulled in only to find that your storage unit was broken into then they may be responsible.

If it's stolen, I think the question of who is responsible for it is moot.

U-Haul is responsible because they told you where to put your belongings and you did as they told you.
