Scooter Libby still has to pay a $250,000 fine. He is ruined. Given the strange details about the investigation, the message that you better not lie is still received.
The message that insider trading must be done within the rules is very important to our economy. I think it is a fair sentence for Martha Stewart, even if that was not what the conviction was for.
Recent events have shown us that prosecutors should have more oversight than they currently have. I hope that happens. It would protect us all.

Martha Stewart was a hardened criminal. She cooked the books. She sold black market K-Mart silverware and dishes. Her criminal career was starting to blossom with her floral arrangements. And she had interior designs on your house. She was bad news and bad to the bone. How can you put someone named Scooter behind bars? What do you think his bunk mate would do to someone with that name? How could he ever pick up another bar of soap? He was an innocent victim who was just following orders. The real reason is of course he might agree to a deal with federal prosecutors to tell more in order to shorten his sentence or get out of jail entirely. This is not what Bush and Cheney wanted. So, they took away the incentive for Scooter to tell the rest of the story(do I sound like Paul Harvey?) to prosecutors. It was a calculated and cynical political ploy to save their own skins. This is one of the most underhanded and corrupt administrations in history. Martha's mistake was not working for Cheney.

Martha lied to public prosecutors for personal gain and hide millions in courrpt income, you try hiding $5000 you will be in jail for 15 years she hid information on over 5Million.

Libby is a political scape goat. He is not even the person to out the socialite Valarie who was but an ex-CIA and was inactive agent.

Big Diffrence.

The government ruins people's lifes all the time; always getting away with it too. Of course it is not fair to hold public officals higher than other people. How ironic though that Martha, who is a celebrity, couldn't get out of prison. However, someone whom is a proven liar and threat to the National Security is not imprisioned. We should be sending him to Guantanamo Bay.

Stewart was tried and convicted of insider trading. Scooter Libby was tried and convicted of a bad memory. Big difference. I think what you need to ask yourself is why have the prosecutors not convicted Richard Armitage? He is the one who outed her. Use some common sense here.

Fair has nothing to do with it. King George is a totalitarian dictator and is above the law! As an aside, look for something very major to happen in this country prior to the next election. I'm predicting there won't be another election.
