We got notices on our doors saying they have contracted with a tow company in town that will be "randomly" going through the complex and towing for "violations". Now most I completely understand such as Handicap, Red Zone, Fire Hydrants...
Now, this is the one that gets me, this is verbatim, ""Any vehicles being stored on the property. This includes those
vehicles moved from space to space occasionally without regular usage."
Well, my wife’s vehicle got a notice on it saying they will tow it in 72 hours because it "appears stored". Her car is dirty. but used daily. Can they have it towed? How do they PROVE its stored?
HELP

Most apartment complexes will allocate certain spaces. There will also be a clause in many leases regarding how many spaces are allocated to each unit. Most will take down your license plate number so they are aware of which vehicles are to be there.

If you do have one too many cars stored without notifying the company or renting a second space they are completely within their rights to remove the vehicle as it is illegally parked.

explain to them that your wife does not work but needs the car for errands and such . Ask them why they would even suggest towing it just cause it is dirty does not mean that it is a storage vehicle . I dont understand that . I would also check with an attorney to see if this is legal . good luck .

I would call them and explain the situation. If they are unresponsive, I would let them know that if towing a car, which she uses regularly, causes you financial hardship or issues with her work, they are financially liable.

Start off with sugar, and most people will respond. If not, then you point out the potential for financial loss to them.
