I live in New York City and I was wondering if I were (hypothetically of course) to be at a bar with a fake id and the cops bust the place and ask to see id, do they need a warrant? Can they arrest me if I refuse to show them anything?

I am getting married in 3 months and I have brought up to my fiance that I might be interested in a prenup. I have read that because we don't have any assets to protect right now, it's pointless. My only objective is that I am a writer and a book that I have written may be published at the end of the year and has the potential to earn a lot of money. I would like protection if this was to occur! Would this make me a candidate for a post-nuptial agreement then? I am just afraid that he wouldn't sign once we are married. Any suggestions?

My landlord wants us to move, so he said he won't accept anymore rent payments and we're supposed to vacate in 14 days. He even went so far as to tell my b/f that he he didn't sign the 14 day notice that he'd call the cops. My b/f didn't know any better so he did. I take this to be a threat and I'd think that you can't threaten someone into signing a legal document. I looked it up online and found a website that I interpreted to say that a landlord has to accept a rent payment when a year lease is signed. Also, they'd have to give us a "5 day to pay rent or vacate notice" before a 14 day notice. But my landlord wouldn't want to do this obviously because that would mean he'd be asking for a rent payment and he doesn't want that. I believe that our landlord just doesn't want to go through the court costs of an eviction because he knows he wouldn't win. So they're trying to bully us out without having to pay anthing. Yes, I have a landlord from hell.

if an agency continues to provide bad service, frequent no-shows, drops patient repeatedly, stays less time than contract states and approved by state agencies--threatens to void your contract when they are cited for allegations of wrongdoing and improper care --what rights does the patient have? Red tape everywhere. the state agencies who should pay attention turn their heads. The care providers or attendants so underpaid they don't care--the agency only cares about the billing time, not the care provided. Where does the patient go for help?

My landlord works in the same dept. as my sister at our local hospital. She goes to work and tells my sister EVERYTHING. She even went so far as to tell my sister that my boyfriend beat me up recently which is totally outrageous!!! We got into a petty fight recently but there was NOTHING physical. It worried my whole family absolutly sick. She also told my sister that we have a new car and that we switched the plates on it... why that would really matter to my sister, I don't know, but that's the point. My landlord is a terrible gossip monger. Isn't there some sort of landlord/tenant confidentiality issue that she is violating?

Today around 2 hours ago, my pet bird was decapitated and eaten by what I assume was a cat. I didn't actually see it, but I've been wondering if there are laws that defend pet owners in these circumstances.

I'm hoping to be able to find the animal that did it, domestic or not. I know there are laws for humans killing animals, but are there laws for the case in which one pet to kills another's pet?

Okay, this boss of mine is very revengeful and stupid.
One time, because he can't defend his words, and he yelled back at me for no reason. And later on , he sent me email (email me only) regarding OT that I am not supposed to make while at the same time, he lets others to make their OT, it's on going for two weeks. (And I have proof of that). I think he is picking on me or discrminating on some sort... Do I have a case? It would be good if you have experienced something like that or you are a lawyer...

The Missouri No call registry recently "ran-out" after 5 years, according to recent, local media. The message was interrpreted that you have to reregister your phone number if you want to remain on the MO No Call List. I reregistered my phone number more than 3 weeks ago, and I swear, I am receiving MORE calls from non-profit organizations (i.e. fire fighters, police canine units, etc.) and from Marketing Research Companies (i.e.Knowledge Networks, Robin #435-893-0167). I have emailed complaints via the Jay Nixon Mo No Call List website and called the toll free number to get an answer with no success. These people that call me are VERY rude and hang up on me even after I ask them to remove my phone number from their list. Anyone got any ideas how to stop these people? Got any ideas how I can make these callers miserable too?

As previously and extensively reviewed in these pages, Feinstein was chairperson and ranking member of MILCON for six years, during which time she had a conflict of interest due to her husband Richard C. Blum's ownership of two major defense contractors, who were awarded billions of dollars for military construction projects approved by Feinstein.
