I was involved in an auto accident. Another driver was attempting to pass 3 cars behind me and then decided to try to pass me as I was in the process of making a left hand turn. The other driver stated to police that he did not notice i was turning even though I did have my signal on and the other cars behind me were slowing down to allow me to make the turn. The other car T-boned my drivers side door and front wheel well causing me to skid completely across the road. He hit me at approximately 50-60 MPH. I have been to 4 doctors and my official diagnosis is displacement of a thoracic intervertabral disc and a cervical vertabral disc and a bilateral IVD. I am suffering severe headaches and pains in my neck, between my shoulderblades and into my lower back as well as tingling and numbness in my fingers and toes.I cannot return to my regular work duties.Only light duty. I have one of the best attorneys and doctors in Texas working my case. What kind of monetary settlement can I expect?

My boyfriend was the unfortunate victim of a 419 Nigerian scam. When he took the checks in to cash them, the store called the police. They held him for four hours questioning him. Now, because we go out sometimes, my boyfriend had my license in his wallet because I don't take a purse to the club. When they started questioning him about my last name and for information about me, he answered honestly that I was married and was in the process of getting a divorce. They called him a "homewrecker". That was completely uncalled for and inappropriate. Is there anything that we can do about this situation? They were rude to him and were not at all understanding about the situation. I think it has to do with him being hispanic/latino and some of his roommates who had problems with the law before (although he has a clean record, as do I). What can we do?

Simple question, wondering everyones views.
Should there be a law to restrict them?
Are they protected under freedom of speech?
**Also, see my other discussion on the reduction of credit.

The time when you are responsible for your own actions, when you could defend yourself without worrying about family members coming at you because you hurt their family member when they broke into your house and threatened your life or your family members life, when the guilty paid and the victims were paid back for what they lost. What is wrong with our government that things are so screwed up and backwards. Where the criminals have more rights than we do?

Isn't it morally, ethically, and legally wrong for a hospice to Euthinize a patient in the state of California? I ask this because my Grandma just called and said that they're doing this to her cousin.

To clarify this, her cousin is perfectly coherent last I was told. also this is different from the Terri Shivao case, in that instance they removed her feeding tube which killed her as a result of dehydration and she was in a vegaitative state. In the case of my Grandma's cousin she her problem is lung failure and to euthinize her they are injecting letal drugs into her (I was told it was an overdose of Morphine). She is on a breathing apparatus but can still talk, and is coherent. If they remove the breathing apparatus she would sofucate, Howver as I said earlier she is being poisioned as opposed to letting her die naturally as a result of her illness. Is this illigal on any of the above grounds?

Okay, I work for a phone company, and they have been forced to cut 5000 hours due to corp. telling them they have to. They already laid 30 people off, but the ones that are left are still considered "full time" employee's although they cut my hours to 32 a week (schedualed) and then they give out what they call "mandatory green time" where they can force you to go home at any time with no notice. I am a single mother, and I tried to file for gov help (like foodstamps, daycare ect.) but I don't qualify fot them because my employer still has me filed as a full time employee... Is this legal? I don't see how it could be, but they are a pretty large company. Is there anything that I can do? Oh yea, I'm in Idaho.... Anything will help! Thanks

No, this is a serious question. A lawmakers job is to make laws. They do so to validate their position and to make a mark in society. Every year throughout history the amount of laws increases and never decreases. Where is this going? I think that any law should start with a citizen initiated petition. If there are enough signatures, it gets submitted in to a sort of public legislature databse where anyone who lives within the juristiction can go into the city hall and vote on it. Of course there would have to be a time perod and an organized method of discussion, public awareness etc. There can be a second vote to bring the bill to the next level, as in from city law to state law etc. Deligates or polititions can be voted on to speak about laws, but not to vote on them. This could inspire public involvement etc. What do you think?

Is it legal for public schools to be sending home religious materials, such as ads for "this Sunday’s revival at this church" or "resurrection Easter egg hunt" events at local churches?

Also is it legal they hold "bible classes" as an elective during normal school hours.

Now your child doesn't have to attend...but if they do not, they sit in an empty classroom with 1 or 2 other kids or get shuffled off to another class (normally the grade below)

This often adds to childhood pressures as it becomes a reason to tease the child that didn't attend.

Are they able to do this to kids?....are the pressures of school not enough?

this is happening in NC state...please answer only if you really know something about this I do intend to take action on this matter.

Company A submits a bid for a project by Company B. After doing so, Company A realizes that a mistake has been made in the calculations and that fulfilling the conditions will bring about bankruptcy. Nonetheless, they cannot withdraw their bid and win the contract. Even though Company A is still legally bound to perform, is there any way out of the contract, taking into account the harm that it will bring to employees and subcontractors which will invariably not be paid in full?

It was stolen 2 1/2 years ago, but I've periodically checked the local pawn shops ever since. And today... it was there! My problem is that since it's been so long, I have no idea how to claim the ring... but I REALLY want it back. Does anyone know the steps I should take?

FYI: I didn't fill out a police report at the time because I was afraid that I may have somehow lost it. Our home was being remodeled & everything was a mess... but I always suspected that one of the workers had stolen it. Turns out, I was RIGHT...
