UPS doesnt always require a signature. i sent a package to the wrong address (my fault), but UPS delivered it to their front porch and the person who lives at the address i mistakenly sent it to says they never got any packages. the package was worth over $800. what can i do!!! i cant say it was stolen b/c there was not signature. the person says they never got a package, and i am the one that addressed the package wrong! aaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh!!! help.

If the item was insured, then it should be shipped "signature required". If the item was then delivered but no signature obtained, the driver is essentially responsible (technically, the THIEF is responsible, but the driver should have obtained a signature to prove it was delivered.)

If the package was uninsured and shipped without a signature requirement, then the UPS can claim they fulfilled their delivery obligations by leaving it on the doorstep of the address you provided (just like first-class mail doesn't have to be hand-delivered to a particular recipient.)

This is why when I order products from places or ship items to people, I choose to insure the package.

When you filled out the paperwork you should have checked the box that states you require a signature; especially when the item was worth $800.

Call the UPS place and see what you can do. They can probably start a claim and investigate it further. If it was delievered then the driver will have that in his delivery log.
