The Catholic vs Wicca issue are comparing apples to oranges.

Religious groups are granted tax exemption on the condition that they do not participate in partisan political issues:

"Under current federal law, 501(c)(3) organizations are those that are "organized and operated exclusively for religious, charitable, scientific ? purposes," and for which "no substantial part of the activities of which is carrying on propaganda, or otherwise attempting, to influence legislation and which does not participate in, or intervene in any political campaign on behalf of (or in opposition to) any candidate for public office."

In the 80's in particular (when the ACLU challenged the Catholic Church's tax exempt status) the Catholic Church was heavily involved in many political issues, foremost among them the abortion issue. This was in direct violation of the conditions for tax exempt status for religious groups.

As for the Wiccans, the constitution guarantees them the same rights as every other religious organisation. Providing the are following the conditions outlined above, Wiccans are legally entitled to tax exempt status.

Actually the ACLU tends to oppose ALL religious tax exemptions, but as long as those exemptions exist, they should be applied equally and without bias.

The second part of your question is pure piffle. The ACLU does not fight against "any Christianity" being exposed to school children, but rather efforts to use the educational system to promote any religion over another.

The Catholic Church's home office is in a foreign country (Italy), is permitted to run legal gambling games (bingo) in the US at quite a profit and should be required at least to pay gaming taxes like any other casino, and I say this as a "cradle Catholic" of Scots-Irish heritage. Wiccans on the other hand, do not make money on teaching their religion, helping others in need and are a true non-profit organization.
Christianity, Druidism, Wicca, Islam and even Atheism should be taught at home or in their respective churches or temples, not in public schools. American Jews attend Hebrew school after public schools, and I believe Koran classes are also held
privately in separate facilities as well. Actually the ACLU is engaged in the business of upholding the Bill of Rights for all Americans, including the Christians whom historically hold a pretty good record against the lions even in political arenas.
What school besides a privately funded institution for Arabic-American children is sponsoring "Islam Indoctrination" courses; "Enquiring" minds want to know.

The ACLU is dedicated to protecting the Bill of Rights and the Constitution. School children should be exposed to education - not religion. They should be exposed to religion at home or at church. And I think churches are abusing their tax exempt status. They are using it to own factories and businesses. And they are playing politics. Stick to teaching religion and they can keep their tax exempt status.

the ACLU has been infiltrated by the illuminati. so, yes, this is possible.

However, America needs a civil liberties protector, so maybe a new ACLU could be established.
