I was just wondering what happens to a person that is wrongly convicted of a crime and served jail time for it. For example a man was accused of rape or murder and sentenced to jail for like 10-50 years or so and he has been in jail for 20 years now. What happens to him once they find out that he was actually innocent and they found the real criminal. Does he get some type of reimbursement for serving time in jail for a crime he didn't commit? Thanks in advance.

My ex-roommate owes me over $600. He keeps making up excuses for why he can't pay me. He has a history of mismanaging money (one of the reasons he is my EX-roommate). I'm sick of dealing with him. How should I go about getting my money and being through with him?

My landlord collected a first, last and a 100 dollar deposit for the office I rent. About one year later, she called everyone in the building and said that the deposit would be raised to 200.00 and that each of us owed her 100 dollars added to the next months rent. No new lease agreements reflecting the new deposit amount were given to us. Is this legal?

I got picked up about a month ago on DUI charges. tomorrow is my court date. I was wondering tho, do I have to go? I am not going to contest the charges or anything like that. All I really needed to go for was to set up a pay plan for my fine. So, can I just call them and do it over the phone or do I have to go to court?

My family is very controlling and always seems to know "what is best" for my seven year old son. They just come and take him away from the house while I am gone. I never know when he is coming back or anything. I live with my boyfriend and am nine weeks pregnant with our baby and this just needs to stop. They say that he is not able to watch my son while I am gone and just take him away. What can I do to end this control?

Federal Holidays in California

I work in a small mortgage company and Im not too familiar with the government laws concerning labor. Today, february the 19th, is a federal holiday and no escrow companies, or banks are open therefore no work for us. Is there anything unlawful of this.
Is there any mandatory holiday premium pay?
I would really appreciate some feedback.

I have a friend who works at a wine bar as a server and a group of people at one table walked out without paying their bill. Her employer says she has to pay their bill. Is this legal? Is there anything she can do besides quit? Or even if she does quit is there some legal action she can persue? If you can, please provide a link to a site that would deal with these types of laws. We reside in Washington state. Thanks!

What can i do if i believe that my boss is drinking on the job? I do have my suspicions. Also, they will not let me choose what days i want off, even tho I have senority over 1 person. . . Also, my assistant manager there, is drawing social security, and only works days a week. . . Well, she's punching in and out on her daughters time card who also works there. . . . What can i do, to get proof of all this, and turn it over to the police? I want my weekends off, and this is the only way to do it. I told them from the beginning not to make me mad.
