I was just wondering what happens to a person that is wrongly convicted of a crime and served jail time for it. For example a man was accused of rape or murder and sentenced to jail for like 10-50 years or so and he has been in jail for 20 years now. What happens to him once they find out that he was actually innocent and they found the real criminal. Does he get some type of reimbursement for serving time in jail for a crime he didn't commit? Thanks in advance.

In Texas at least, there is some provision for damages. Good thing. In Dallas county ALONE, about 12 men have been fully cleared based on DNA proving innocence. I do not think finding the real criminal has anything to do with it.
If you run "innocence project" via google, there are a number of sites that deal with this topic. The obvious issue is that DNA evidence is not always available to use, and there are LONG lists of people stating their innocence, and limited resources. The information is CAREFULLY evaluated before they take on a case.
Unfortunately, it is becoming clear that our justice system has severe flaws.

The wrongly convicted guy or woman would attraction to a greater courtroom. that's unlikely the choose would get into difficulty for accepting the prosecutor's argument quite than a defendant. (Judges do no longer make judgements in a vacuum. The protection brings a action and makes a controversy. The prosecutor opposes the action and makes a controversy. The choose makes a ruling. The choose has the skill to rule in prefer of the prosecutor.)
