Because someone in the Spade Advocacy Group would be offended and cut off funding to that politician's campaign. They are much more interested in getting re-elected than anything else.

Because they have to appeal to the largest base of people possible. When ever you take a position on anything you are going to offend someone so they take pains never to take a position on anything. This is well documented phenomenon. Social scientists have done experiments and discovered that when a popular candidate doesn't take a position or if the voter doesn't know their position on an issue the voter will impose their position on to the candidate. That's why candidates like say, Obama or Giuliani, are so popular right now. People dont know what they stand for so people assume they feel the same way they feel. The longer candidates can do this the less likely you are to turn on them when you eventually do figure out their real positions.

phoney baloney cheese and macaroni is what I say. I think the biggest new phoney we have is this Obama character. What has he done to qualify for president. My goodness he gave one good speech and people think that is good enough? Wow. The worst thing happening is the RAPE of the US citizen by the politicians by not securing the borders. Both the Dems and Republicans led by George Bush are neglegent in their duties and make me sick by not guarding our borders. They use words like comprehensive to make people go Duh. I have zero respect for any of these politicians. Out of all of them though I think Rudy G will probably be our next president. He is the best of the worst. No way could I stand 4 or 8 years of Hillarys shrieking. That woman is insane.

that would be telling you the truth, and politicians only tell the people what they think they want to here, if they are going to do it that way or not, if you can't lie with a smile on your face you will never be a politician. take o good look at Bush when he is telling you any thing.

Money. Money is why they must lie. Politicians do not get paid a decent salary. They make chump change compared to what CEO's make. So in order to make money they run around pandering to special interests who donate to their campaigns. The money funnels around to their coorporations which are non profit. So that is why they talk a bunch of lies.
