I pay all my bills online, I use e-mail to communicate with friends, and so I consider any mail that comes to me junk. The only reason I ever bother opening my mailbox is to fish out the bright red Netflix envelopes and throw away everything else. I've been doing this for years. A couple of people at work were talking about jury duty, and I realized I may very well have received summons for jury duty in the years I've been doing this, and since I don't look at the mail at all, it all would have just been thrown away. Is that illegal? The way I see it I'm not deliberately ignoring or avoiding jury duty: if the government made sure the only thing in my mailbox other than Netflix was jury duty summons I'd probably look at and open the envelope, but if I throw away all my mail without even caring what it is, can "they," whoever that would be, come after me? Thanks.

What do you think the punishment should be for a young girl who has no prior criminal record who is charged with 1 count of possession of child pornography for a file found in her computer. Her defense is she accidently downloaded it while searching for regular porn on Limewire. My state says the punishment is 3-15 years in prison...that seems harsh. What does everyone else think?

Like...we've been doing it all these years, and I took a survey of 'why there are so many delinquent kids' over answers, and 99% of the answers responded in Christianity was taken out of schools. I don't mean shove it don't a Muslim's throat, but where do we draw the line between church and state?

OK here's my story not to long ago i got hired for an insurance company, I was great in my interview they seemed to love me...I got hired on the spot with a verbal agreement. I was working at jamba juice at the time, i had only been there 2 weeks so i tell my jamba boss that i would like to give him a 2 week notice but he said it wasn't necessary so i was employed till the end of that week...OK so my start day for the insurance job was on the 26 of this month. "Feb".. yesterday i singed and gave my written agreement well anyway i get a call from lady in HR one i interview with and she tells me i have bad news i was like what? she then told me that they had decided to give the guy who i was going to replace a second chance.. i was like what??? but we already had decided that i was going to start on Monday plus we had a written agreement, she was all like that does not matter ... so i was like OK what can you do so we left it at that...so right after i get on the phone with the person i was going to be working directly for and i told him the situation and he had no idea what was going on he was surprised so he then told me he was going to find out what happened and he would give me a call once he found out what was going on. this was around 11 30. so i don't hear from him it's already 3:30 so i decide to call him again and i get his voice mail so i leave him a message so he calls me back and tells me that the head people in charge had an issue with an anger management class and that i was a convicted felon then i told him but i had stated that on my application and yet they still hired me but now it's a problem...to me it doesn't seem write and we talked about it in the interview when i got hired..plus i can't get my job back at jamba because i already been replaced and they are over staffed so now im stuck with out a job. so do you think this is discrimination i spoke to a labor lawyer and he said i have a good case but i would like your feed back thank you...

Today, I been slammed by multiple email to the whole project team abt late coming, watching video, chatting, sleeping, napping, accessing internet, looking at photo together.....Argh~Are these as misunderstanding and using as a weapon to attack ppl working with them? I don't agree with some of the thing they said. Cos this project really sucked alot cos it's a tedious and time consuming project that is unable to any money to the company and reputation dropped cos of it. And everyone in the team knows abt it, most ppl felt cheated cos they are not told abt it. I feel that the co. is not sympathy enough cos I saw some of them worked late and I think they need a break by napping or maybe these ppl are ill. These ppl have sacrifice alot of there time for the company with no rewards except for the salary and the 13th mth bonus.Life is not abt work, work and work. We can't do any work without building raport among outselves. We need to enjoy the work we are doing & not abt giving in as salves

A job/work that they could earn wages to put a roof over their heads and food in the belly's. Are there any employers who provide a second chance for such people. People who repaid their dets. (sp?) to society? I personally have a family member who I see doing all he can to find work and no one wants to hire him. It's so easy to do the wrong thing when nothing pans out. Help these guys help themselves!

We are now paying these illegal prices still. Should the puc(pub. utilities comm.) Is there colusion goimg on?) be refunding us the difference or are they too making money from this queer deal? I wouldn't put it past them nor any other large corporation to lie to not just congress but their own stockholders/employees.
I don't think I can put it in any easier terms for you all, when it so simple. If we get caught stealing we usually have to pay restitution equal to the amount stolen no matter the form of theft...why should Enron /Anderson / P.G.E, in Portland, Oregon. Yes our pre3sident of the local power company was also indicted with their parents for their own missdealings to California and other western states. So, why have we not staerted a class action? I don't know except for the fact that I can't afford an attorney to take the case..anyone? anyone? I'm not trying to start a riot but geeeze, let's not be victims here, but vigilanties...NOT

Do you think the courts will eventually assign a lawyer to Danielle Smith to protect her interests instead of all the adults possibly just fighting over her money she should inherit if there is any...left?

Poor kid. I hope whomever gets her really cares about her because by the time this is all done with there may be no money left to care for the orphan especially if the courts appoint her a lawyer to protect her interests not the adults.

the city i live in has debated installing security cameras in public areas in high-crime parts of town. sounds good on the surface: more eyes equals less crime, right?

but look deeper: would you want a camera on your street corner? would you feel your privacy was invaded? how about the stigma of being told your part of town needs some extra surveillance? would you trust those viewing the images to have the best of intentions? should the public be informed where the cameras would be placed, or would that decrease their effectiveness?

what are your thoughts on this strategy? would cameras promote public safety or invade personal privacy?

If I get a ticket and plead guilty and pay the fine and I never get my car inspected doesn't double jeapardy apply because I have already been tried for the crime so even if I am stopped again I won't have to pay a fine because it would be the same offense.
